I went there to try the menu of the day. I told them I want the menu at the beginning. Everything was going well but at the end, I left paying more for less of what they were advertising for the menu of the day. The attached photo says: 11,90€ for the starter, meal, dessert and bread & drink (included). During my experience, I did not get any bread and the drink they offered me ended being extra charge unless my spanish is very bad and “pan y bebida incluidos” doesn’t mean bread and drink included
I was okay by not getting the bread but when I went to pay and saw 11,9€ + 3€ for the drink they offered me when they knew I was getting the menu of the day, I was very disappointed at the service for not warning me that it would be extra. Nevertheless, the food was tasty but the service very questionable and the way they are doing business after this experience is very questionable. I know mistakes can happen but I also know that we are living in tough times, so people will also take shortcuts to save money or take advantage of people that would let it slip to avoid conflict (just like a did). The only thing I could not do was not to share my experience so people that read reviews can at least get warned and try to make sure of what’s truly included in the menu before ordering instead of assuming that you can read very well. Anyways, this is my 1st time having this kind of experience from a restaurant since I have arrived to Madrid.

tl;dr: it’s vegan but you can ignore that if you have reservations about vegan food. Just try it. I am not a vegan, but I like to try different stuff and have no reservations about vegan substitutes for dishes which traditionally contain meat. I came here with two vegan friends and was very satisfied with everything I tried. We ordered appetizers to share, and the burrata with black garlic was delightful, as were the Korean “chicken” skewers. For my main dish, I got a pad thai and didn’t even think about the fact it didn’t have meat. Dessert is always the highlight of restaurant outings for me, and I have to say their cheesefake (brilliant name) is one of the best I’ve ever tried, including non vegan. It’s just right. Service is nice as always in Spain, and prices seemed ok to me as someone who lives in Munich and who’s not yet very acquainted with normal Madrid prices. Tips are not mandatory in Spain but are given for very nice service. Quite a nice experience overall!

Out of three vegan restaurants I have tried (so far) in Madrid, this is miles better than the others! The portions are big and match the cost, the staff are very friendly (bilingual) and the food itself is delicious! They do not give you less than a suitable portion for the price - unlike MudrĂĄ in C. de Recoletos. I had the Burrata Aioli and Jackfruit Katsu Curry with a tikka masala twist. Both were delicious and the tikka masala was not too intense, which was nice. They provide three portions of jackfruit which is plenty. Just a small gripe, the amount of sauce was perfect for two portions but slightly less for three. Hardly a reason to drop a star! I am very impressed with this restaurant and highly recommend it ❀

We just had an awful experience in this place.

My girlfriend arrived there while I was on my way, I was close, about 15 minutes away and just told her to order anything for me. She entered and asked where she could sit and the waiter asked her how many people were with her and she said 2. The waiter then asked if I was there and my girlfriend replied that I was close and on my away. The waiter then said that if I'm not there yet she should prioritize other people as they had a small queue waiting and were very busy and my girlfriend replied that outside was a group of 5 people and we were just 2 and could sit in any of the small tables. The waiter then told her to sit in a table in a corner of the restaurant. My girlfriend seeing they were so busy and that they were in a hurry asked if she could order already and the waiter told her not yet. Apparently they were not in such a hurry. My girlfriend then waited 10 minutes.

At this point I arrived and sat too. I settled my things on the floor, my backpack and a bag I had and started looking at the menu. 2 minutes later one of the waiters asks us if we would like to change table and we replied that we were fine there. The waiter then replied that "ahhh... it's just that we would like to join that tablet with the other one so we could sit this 5 people", we weren't going to argue and we moved table but in reality we had no choice but to move. They joined the tables for the other group and brought us the menu. We ordered our food and a couple of minutes later we got our entrants. 5 minutes later the group that sat on our first tablet got up and left. They probably weren't happy with their service either I guess. The waiter then separeted the tables and sat 2 other groups.

After that everything went more or less normal except we had to ask...

I read all these amazing reviews about Vega so I was quite intrigued by it. I agree that the Service is pretty poor, I was there several days so I can say honestly that I might as well have been invisible: mostly I was tended by a young man, constantly on the phone while talking to me, taking bookings. I mean, it's ok, I see that someone has to answer the phone but he never once apologised for interrupting his conversation with me,so after a few minutes I lost interest. The lunch time rush it's not for me. I had to sit by the bar, very awkward as there's no leg room, and I had a main and a cup of tea for 11€ which is not cheap. My favourite was merienda,in between lunch and dinner, when you can have a pudding and a coffee for 4.50€:the puddings were great but the coffee isn't the best I have had in Madrid. I noticed that the reviews tend to be challenged,so I won't be surprised if someone writes back an abrupt reply, but it would only show that I am right about the attitude of the Staff. No smiling,no greetings, not even a thank you for leaving a tip... Hugely overrated Restaurant,so many other places in Madrid where being a guest is always a pleasure and never taken...
