Visiting a Thai restaurant in Madrid is an experience that often comes with high expectations, given the vibrant and rich flavors associated with Thai cuisine. Recently, I decided to try a local Thai restaurant that has garnered attention for its chicken skewers served with peanut sauce. I was eager to indulge in what I hoped would be a delightful culinary experience, but unfortunately, my visit did not quite meet my expectations.
Let’s start with the food. The chicken skewers were well-prepared, and the cooking technique was evident, but I found the portion size to be rather small. When dining on skewers, particularly those featuring chicken, I would typically anticipate a more substantial offering, both in terms of quantity and flavor. The small size of the skewers made me feel as though the dish lacked a sufficient foundation. However, the peanut sauce served alongside them was undeniably tasty. It had a delightful balance between sweet and savory, adding an interesting twist that complemented the chicken. The sauce was rich in texture and flavor, making it the highlight of the dish. Despite this, I would have appreciated a greater variety of flavors in the skewers themselves, which felt somewhat one-dimensional.
Now, let’s discuss the service. Unfortunately, this aspect of the experience was not particularly impressive. While the food arrived within a reasonable timeframe, the waitress seemed disinterested and was not very attentive to our needs. This lack of engagement was disappointing, as attentive service can significantly elevate the overall dining experience. In this instance, however, the service did not enhance the meal, which was a letdown. This indifference from the staff contributed to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, which felt somewhat cold and uninviting.
Speaking of atmosphere, the ambiance of the restaurant was decent but not particularly memorable. The decor was quite simple and failed to create an authentic Thai experience. I would have expected soft Thai music playing in the background and gentle lighting to enhance the overall vibe. Instead, the environment felt lacking in warmth and charm, which diminished my overall enjoyment of the meal. I believe that a restaurant should transport its guests to a different place, and in this case, the restaurant did not succeed in creating that immersive experience.
In conclusion, if you are looking for Thai chicken skewers with peanut sauce in Madrid, this restaurant can provide you with the dish, but you should be aware that the overall experience may fall short of expectations. The food was average, the service was not particularly friendly, and the atmosphere failed to capture the essence of Thai cuisine. If you choose to visit, it may be wise to approach with moderate expectations and remember that a dining experience is not solely defined...
Read moreCompletely mistreated by the server. We were so excited to eat here! But from the second we walked in the server treated us as though we were a massive inconvenience to her. Anytime we asked her recommendations she told us that it was good but she couldn’t tell us her favorites. If we weren’t immediately ready or still had questions she would just walk away. Anytime we said thank you when she dropped off a dish or took away a plate she wouldn’t even look at us and said nothing. The green curry was delicious but everything else was just ok.
When she asked if we wanted dessert, she said there was only chocolate cake. Then when she talked the table next to us about dessert she gave them more options.
I have no idea what we did to be treated this way. We were kind and courteous the entire lunch but we’re disrespected and mistreated.
We dined at Yothai because we are making a city guide with recommendations for Madrid and this spot couldn’t be further from...
