Artisan ice cream tutti frutti — Restaurant in Madrid

It gets -1 star just for the service, apparently the company policy is to only allow you to taste one item. I'm sorry but are you guys high? Let's say I taste one item and I don't like it, which is exactly what happened. Now I'm essentially forced to gamble on another flavor and waste all my money, or walk out of the store after making the journey.

Frankly management is completely idiotic.

However as I always say, I don't go to restaurants or food places for the service and I am willing to put up with anything for something that tastes amazing.

Unfortunately in this place in addition to piss poor service you also have even worse gelato.

So I have had mango gelato all over Europe and let's be clear this place rates in the bottom 3.

It is supposed to be artisanal but clearly tastes of fake artificial flavoring, there are no real pieces of fruit, I could go to Lidl and buy...

I was very excited to try this ice cream place while visiting Madrid, since it was artisanal and had started many decades ago.

When I got there, I asked to try the turrón flavor (since I never had something like that). A very polite employee gave me a very generous tasting. I unfortunately did not like it, but was excited to try to find a flavor I liked.

I was informed that the company policy is to only give ONE tasting per costumer. One of the other employees (not the polite one) yelled from the back: “Do you ask for tastings when you go to a restaurant?” I thought to myself: “Well, this ISN’T a restaurant: It’s an ice cream shop.”

Anyway, I wasn’t going to buy a flavor I didn’t like and I wasn’t going to try my luck with another flavor I hadn’t tasted… So I left.

Very sad company policy that will for sure make other clients go...

We happened to pass this ice cream shop on a walk in the nearby park toward the palace, and I'm so glad we decided to try out the offerings. I got the lemon sorbet, and it tasted like it was made from real lemons (you could taste some of the peel/zest, super tart with just a hint of bitterness). I also got a scoop of raspberry sorbet which was the perfect balance between sweet and tart. My sister got the lavender ice cream, which was incredibly good. If I weren't lactose intolerant, I would have gotten the lavender ice cream instead. The server was really...
