Benabola Sky Lounge Puerto Banús — Restaurant in Marbella

This is the single worst sky bar I have ever been to! No ambiance, no customers apart from one aging gentle man sat alone in a corner. No charisma or welcome by the staff. We went on an evening when the streets of marbella was bustling with life and music and expected more of the same with great views as promised. Clearly this place is struggling because although they have the facilities for patio heaters they didn't even have them switched on! It was as if they weren't expecting any guests to walk through the door. After our long walk to find the place we decided to stay for one drink and agreed after that we would leave. We ordered 2 cocktails and 2 glasses of champagne but was told that we would have to have the champagne which was already open. We asked to taste the champagne before pouring as the bottle was almost empty and found it (obviously) to be flat and sour. This bottle had been opened for days (but the staff insisted it was open for only 2 hours???) and didn't even pop or make any fizz when opened and poured. We asked the staff to open a fresh bottle and they point Blank refused. Clearly this place cannot afford to make or serve quality drinks to its clientele as the staff said if he opened it they would not be able to sell the rest of the bottle! He refused so we left. It's funny, we didn't even really want to be there after we saw the place and it was totally dead inside. But we tried to make the best of a bad situation. We have a very large group of 40 people coming out next week who really enjoy sky terrace and bars but there is absolutely no way I would consider bringing them to this place! Avoid at all costs. Hello, I sent you an email but you have not replied. Here it is again...

Dear Mark Garnacos.

Myself and 3 friends came to your roof top bar last night for a birthday celebration around 9pm.

I am writing to you to mention that the music you play in what I believe to be the most lovely rooftop terrace in the whole of Puerto Banus is quite frankly dull and uninviting to anyone wanting a night out.

We asked the waiters could they change it and they said it was impossible as you tell them they can only play depressing Jazz.

I went down to the reception and they told me the same.

We all had a discussion, all of us and your other guests and couldn't believe the awful atmosphere that is provided in your cocktail bar.

Do you want business or are you for God knows what reason wanting to drive out any business you could generate?

Do you believe that paying customers should be able to ask for a more upbeat choice of music and atmosphere on a night out?

Nobody could make a decision to please your customers as they seemed fearful of you and being able to make a decision to please your customers in your absence.

We also had to leave at 10pm is this right on a Saturday evening?

Last nights experience was drab, depressing and it ruined a birthday celebration.

Supposedly they open at 5pm, we arrived exactly at five but they didn't let us go up, they told us they were just opening, so we sat downstairs in the lobby, then at 5:10 I asked again and the answer was a very ironic "We open after 5, It could be 5:10, 5:15 or even 5:30"

Obviously I was like "what?" Seriously, what is this guy at the lobby thinking, that we will just sit there until they want to start working maybe 30 minutes after the Opening time?

I live close by, and it's not the first time I come here, the view is spectacular but the service is always bad. This was over the top tho... Never coming back for sure..
