As a frequent diner, I've had my fair share of both exceptional and mediocre restaurant experiences, but my recent visit to El Gaucho was, without a doubt, one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with a rather dull ambiance that failed to set a positive tone for our meal. Little did we know that the lackluster atmosphere was just the beginning of a string of unfortunate events.
To kick off our meal, we were served three pieces of bread that we hadn't ordered. Though unrequested, we wouldn't have minded the extra appetiser had it been complimentary. However, to our dismay, the bread was later included on our bill. This felt like a sneaky tactic to increase the bill, and we were left feeling deceived. To make things worse they brought 3 pieces for 4 people, but charged for 4!
The main course did not fare much better. We ordered a chicken burger and specifically requested the removal of certain toppings. To our frustration, the burger arrived with all the sides we had asked to be excluded. As a result, the dish was far from the custom order we had anticipated.
When we brought the issue to the attention of the manager, we expected some form of apology or effort to rectify the situation. Instead, we were met with a shrug of indifference, which was not only unprofessional but also disrespectful to us as customers.
To make matters worse, we asked for the uneaten burger to be removed from our bill three times. The manager eventually came over and accused us of eating the entire burger, even though we hadn't touched it. The confrontation was both uncomfortable and unnecessary, and it left us feeling unwelcome and dissatisfied.
In conclusion, our experience at El Gaucho was, to put it mildly, a disaster. From the unrequested bread to the poorly prepared chicken burger, and finally, the appalling customer service, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone. There are countless other dining options available, and I encourage potential patrons to look elsewhere for a more enjoyable and stress-free...
Read moreAs someone who enjoys trying out new restaurants and exploring different cuisines, I was eager to visit El Gaucho. Unfortunately, my experience there turned out to be one of the most regrettable dining encounters I have ever had.
Upon arrival, the restaurant's atmosphere left much to be desired. The uninspiring ambiance was a precursor to the series of disappointments that were to follow throughout our meal.
The first setback came in the form of an unsolicited serving of bread. While it's not unusual for restaurants to offer complimentary bread, we were unpleasantly surprised when we found the unasked-for bread included in our bill. This tactic felt misleading and left a sour taste in our mouths.
Our main course was not any better. We ordered a chicken burger and asked for specific toppings to be removed. To our dismay, the burger arrived with all the unwanted toppings still present. The dish fell short of the customized experience we had hoped for.
When we reported the issue to the manager, we were met with a complete lack of empathy or concern. Instead of an apology or an attempt to resolve the situation, the manager merely shrugged his shoulders, leaving us feeling disregarded and frustrated.
The final straw came when we requested that the untouched burger be removed from our bill. After making the request three times, the manager confronted us, accusing us of consuming the entire burger even though it remained uneaten. The exchange was not only unnecessary but also deeply uncomfortable.
In summary, our visit to El Gaucho was an utter disappointment. From the unwarranted bread charges to the poorly executed chicken burger, and the deplorable customer service, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this restaurant. There are numerous other dining options to choose from, and I suggest prospective patrons opt for an alternative establishment for a more enjoyable and hassle-free...
Read moreWe arrived and were directed to a table for two - we asked if we could sit on a different table and they said it was made up for 4 people however my husband was quick to point out there were 3 other couples sitting on ‘tables for 4’…. We ordered the octopus carpaccio which was fine and the pil pil prawns which were over cooked. My husband ordered the 600g rib eye with jacket potato and mushroom, I ordered the burger without tomato but asked if it still came with lettuce and gaucho sauce to which I was told yes. Main courses arrive - my husbands steak looks like a ‘lump’ and was served with potatoes so had he been told that (no mention on the menu) he wouldn’t have ordered the JP. We were also served bread - didn’t realise you have to pay for it until we got the bill - 2.50€ per person!!! The restaurant is set up for tourists and sadly was a very disappointing experience for us. We didn’t leave a tip as we felt they made more than enough money out of us… if the mama get wishes to comment on the fact that we should have said something - with the amount of staff you have floating around. At least ONE person could have asked how...
