After a lang walk around the harbor of Puerto Banus, we decided to go for same food. We decided relatively quickly which restaurant we will visit, since we visited this restaurant 3 years ago. After we arrived, we searched in vain for 5 places. At 22 o'clock the shop was well visited and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The waitress asked us to wait 20 minutes, which was not a problem for us since we were very much looking forward to the food. After waiting for the 20 minutes, we were taken to our place. The first thing we noticed was the relatively lang wait. Of course we showed understanding because the shop was well visited, so that did not seem to be a problem for us. We decided to eat the mejillones / mussels. For the price of 10.50 we looked forward to many mussels with a delicious sauce. When the waiter took the order, we asked if the mussels with a tomato sauce are made because we did not notice on the map. The waiter answered quickly that it would not be so. We were a little surprised since it was still 3 years ago and we also saw before courts with the similar tomato sauce. We do not know if it worked because of the language barrier or the non-existent possibility. After the waiter took the food after 15-20 minutes the first thing we noticed was: Little mussels, no sauce and no bread. We asked the waiter if it was normal that there was no sauce. He said that it was so normal... After the first and second mussel we noticed the somewhat tough, cold and not so fine taste. A reason that the restaurant does not cook the mussels fresh, but simply warms up ... that would explain the taste. After we ate the few Shells quickly, we also asked for the bill. Here we had to wait a lang time for the bill. After the bill was settled and we wanted to pay quickly, we had to wait 10 minutes for the waiter to accept the money. Since we did not have the money, we were about 4-5 euros too much. We expected change, but the only thing that came from the waiter was: Ciao and then he disappeared. We did not want to do theater for that little money, but it's about the principle. Unfortunately, we left the restaurant 1 hour later with an...

This high end harbor of expensive designer shops, parked sports cars, many eateries, yachts is the place to see and be seen on a Sunday afternoon. We chose La Bocana for its location and reasonably priced menu compared to several other restaurants. We were five for lunch. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. Service could have been better. We waited over 15 minutes after asking for the check then decided to get up and walk over to the cashier desk instead. The fried mixed seafood (Frit Malaguena) as shown in photo was fine, freshly made and satisfying. My friends ate other seafood selections like canned tuna on a bed of lettuce with 2 half slices of tomato, and salpicon de Marisco, a mixed fish salad. A child ate Albondigas (chicken meatballs). At the end of the meal we were served a complimentary glass of limoncello as...
Read moreWe decided to celebrate a special occasion at La Bocana based on the positive reviews we read online on several review / travel platforms. If you’re looking for authentic, delicious Spanish cuisine - this just isn’t it. The view is beautiful, but we were distracted by the colony of ants crawling on our table as well as the “jamón ibérico” that was very poor quality for nearly 30+ Euros. The pasta was drowning in oil and the solomillo was medium on one side and rare on the other.
Overall, I’m not sure what we’re missing with this place. The service was good and friendly, but the food was nearly inedible for the price, and we’re no snobs. The place is (expectedly) overrun with tourists, but we thought there might be a few locals who ate there. Our taxi driver on the way home laughed when we asked if locals would ever dine there or several other sites in Puerto Banús....
