LEVANTE BEACH — Restaurant in Marbella

Attended here for a early evening dinner and was met by Muhammad & Marvin who was happy to tell us about the menu, we decided to dine here because of the seafood menu. On deciding on our course Muhammad told us about the fish for the day and how it comes well cleaned and filleted. We had a choice of rice, veg or salad with the fish of the day which was Sea bass. For starter I wanted squid but it came under a main course for €28 but on the beach menu it was €16 but I couldn't have that as I was not on the beach so decided on the squid coquette for €16.50. We requested table water which didn't come sealed and looked like exactly what we requested. We was brought bread to our table which didn't seem too fresh was very crusty and slightly hard. Starters arrived which was pleasant basically a potato salad with small fried squid on top. After which our main arrived which we requested the fish with salad and extra fries to share For €37 the fish was fairly basic mine was not cleaned well I had quite a few bones and scale which I mentioned and was told that sometimes happens the salad was bitter and very basic iceberg lettuce grated carrots horse radish and sweetcorn, for the cost I expected better. The service was attentive at first but slowly deteriorated we requested the bill, which we had to query as we was charged for the bread we never asked for and the table water. Muhammad told us anywhere in Spain bread put on the table is not free and we shouldn't have eaten it if we didn't want to pay when we was never told this was the case. Other diners told us that he was wrong as other places do give bread for the table complimentary. He was very rude and reluctant to take this off the bill we still paid for the water that was not sealed or came in a bottle that didn't look like it was a reusable for tap water. Worst place I have ever been at! I don’t necessarily mind the prices, it is the same everywhere...However I do expect much more of the service, especially after 1 year with COVID you would expect they at least try to keep customers happy. Following is a short summary of what we experienced: Placed an order with one waitress with no issues, waited 25 min and another one came up saying we could not order the dishes that we had ordered as they were only to be ordered to the beach. He repeated this very rudely several times although we said we understand. He was not ready to make any exception although we already waited over 30 minutes. He kept saying we should use the QR-Code to get to the restaurant menu, which we did. Interestingly both menus were available using the QR code so not very clear that one of the was not available, and no one explained these as we were seated. The guy was super rude, saying bad things in both English and spanish and we were shocked with his behaviour, really unacceptable.... In the end, we ordered something else and got the food (Took 1,5 Hours from order). The food was really average... The staff had no control of orders or service as several guests were complaining and staff kept bringing out food late or wrong orders... We sat down and ordered drinks and immediately the stress began. The older guy who I think runs this place began screaming and shouting at his staff next to our table and slamming menus down. There was at this time only 3 tables dining as the lunch service had only just began. When ordering we asked the usual questions about the food and he seemed annoyed, ruled his eyes and kept walking off. We should have got up and left and wanted to but then drinks arrived and to be quite honest this guy was so intimidating that if we had cancelled our order before it came in sure he would have made a huge scene about it. Never have I had such an unconfirtable dining experience. This guys attitude absolutely stinks!. Left here with indigestion. The food was just OK, drinks fine, service pretty terrifying, glasses had lipstick on them from previous guests - exactly what you do not need after a relaxing morning on the beach for extortionate prices. Levante used to be great. I don't know what happened. I will say this to the management. Do not assume that your guests do not know spanish. When I asked you to replace the dirty cup you served me with you snatched it, staying these people" and continued to make unacceptable comments about customers and staff.
