The good at this place is that you can catch a sunray
The waiter is extremely unfriendly, service poorly. Asking for the menu, he waives at the door it’s hanging there. No menu handed out, not even a QR code. As I was sitting on my own I would have needed to get up, leave my place unattended. Resulting in or leaving my seat loosing it, or leave my belongings and get robbed. Waiter cared zero about that. So I did not order food.
Also the glasses are dirty, answer: It’s because of the dishwasher… asking for another one, he said it will be the same… Indeed it was… So where are the times the staff did polish glasses?
Also the quantity of the wine was served less as usual. As I had no clean glass for the water, I first finished the wine and used the only acceptable glass he offered me for the sparkling water as well..
The only good thing here is, you can catch some sun. But that’s it.
No need to mention I ll never return to this place! (Btw he might not care for tourist not to return, as summer is full with people. My case is I m local, I could have filled his space in winter. But as said, won’t happen. Next pandemic time the cry for local people will be high, but we don’t forget...
Read moreCafe Moderno seems to be a fast paced cafe to visit and hope you get served. There I think 21 tables outside these premises. All serviced by one waiter performing all the tasks of clearing, ordering, serving and collecting payment. He's a very busy man - I shall call him Manuel. We were seated quickly here after someone else vacated, however it took probably a further 10 minutes before Manuel passed by us to clear the table and take an order - 2 beers - no biggie. I think it took a further 10 minutes for these drinks to appear at our table. We also observed another table nearby, where at least 3 separate parties stopped, sat and waited for service - all of which gave up and went away. Paying for our drinks was also a challenge as Manuel as you'd expect was run off his feet - probably a further 20 minutes to catch his eye, put some money towards the situation and leave. However, the surroundings were very pleasant and in fact on another sunny day we returned to Cafe Moderno for further libations. If in Palma, make...
Read moreOverpriced food & disappointing service. The only saving grace is its wonderful location. The bocadillos we ordered were no bigger than a soup roll - not the standard for baguettes elsewhere on the island, even in tourist hot spots such as the café at the Fundació Joan i Pilar Miró. The price, however, was much higher in comparison. The service left a lot to be desired - we were left to wait over 40 minutes for our bill even with potential customers eyeing up our table. We were quickly ushered out of our seats when it did arrive. I would highly recommend going elsewhere - there are plently of good bars & cafés in Palma but this is not...
