So nice I went twice. The food and the service here are so good. Went on a Tuesday night on my own. Was a bit quiet so i got a table easily. Seated right away and asked for my drink order very promptly. I ordered some garlic prawns, some bread with tomato, some meatballs and a curry chicken roll that sounded interesting. My drink arrived not 30 seconds later and the first of the tapas a few mins later. Garlic prawns arrives first bubbling away and they were sublime. Just enough garlic and the heat from the small chillis to give it a kick. The bread with tomato was perfect for dipping into the oil to soak up that goodness. The meatballs came next. While they were nice they didn't blow me away, but still were tasty and very saucy. What really got me was the curry chicken roll. I didn't have high hopes but It was absolutely delicious. Spicy, but not too much, with minced chicken and veg and a creamy sauce on top. I could have eaten about 10 of them alone. The service here was super good. If one waitress didn't check on me, then another did and I was very well looked after. Enjoyed so much I went back on the Wednesday night. It was busier this time, so could only sit at the bar which was fine with me. Basically got the same food again, minus the meatballs but mixed it up with a pinchos of steak, potato and roasted pepper which was delicious as well. Once again the service was just amazing and they're super friendly. I saw another review that said the tapas were small, I disagree and think they were the perfect size. I'd definitely...
Read moreWe recently dined at La Botana in Palma, drawn by its inviting atmosphere and reputation for tapas and pinchos. Our experience was a mix of highs and lows, with some dishes standing out more than others.
We sampled several pinchos, including the grilled entrecote with potato and Padron pepper and the Portobello mushroom stuffed with meat and cream cheese. While both were decent, they didn’t quite hit the mark. The entrecote was flavorful but a bit underwhelming, and the mushroom pincho, though an interesting combination, lacked the punch we were hoping for. They were enjoyable but didn’t leave a lasting impression.
The patatas bravas and fried Padron peppers were solid choices, offering the classic flavors you’d expect. The patatas bravas had a nice crispness, though the sauce could have been more vibrant. The fried Padron peppers were well-prepared, providing that familiar mix of mild and occasional heat.
The standout of our meal was the shrimp with aioli sauce. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor, while the aioli added a rich, garlicky kick that made this dish our favorite of the evening.
Overall, La Botana provided a pleasant experience, though it wasn’t without its flaws. Some dishes were merely okay, but the shrimp with aioli sauce was definitely a highlight worth trying. It’s a good spot for a casual meal with a variety of tapas options, but we found that not every dish delivered the same level of...
Read moreWe were a family of 12 walking around Palma looking for a place to eat, and unfortunately this turned into one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. When we first arrived, we asked for a table for 12, and were told it wasn’t possible—even though the restaurant was half empty. We even offered to split into two tables of 6, but were still turned away.
We tried again by having our Spanish speaker ask separately, and a different waiter agreed to seat the group. As soon as we all walked in and sat down, the same staff member who had denied us became visibly upset and, in a very sassy tone, said “those are the same 12.”
She then told us we had to sit in the back if we wanted to stay together, so we moved. Moments later, she changed her mind again, insisting that because we had a baby, part of the group would still need to sit separately. At that point, it was clear they simply didn’t want our service, no matter how flexible we tried to be.
After being shuffled around and treated so rudely, we decided to leave. Extremely disappointing and, frankly, felt discriminatory. Families and larger groups should be aware before...
