Good Pasta in a Lovely Setting – But Getting a Table Is a Challenge
We recently dined at Rikito, located on Calle de la Fábrica, a charming and picturesque pedestrian street in Palma de Mallorca – perfect for a stroll before or after dinner. The ambiance of the area is delightful, and the restaurant has a cozy, inviting atmosphere.
However, booking a table was surprisingly difficult. The restaurant does not accept online reservations, and despite several attempts to call, no one answered. When we showed up in person at 6 PM hoping to book for 7, we asked why the phone goes unanswered. The staff explained that once they’re fully booked, they stop taking calls altogether. Apparently, you need to call four days in advance to secure a reservation – something we would have appreciated knowing ahead of time.
If you’re visiting in the summer months, be aware that indoor seating can be quite hot – there’s no fan or noticeable ventilation. If you’re sensitive to heat, it’s definitely worth requesting a table outside, where the breeze from the street and the lively atmosphere make for a much more comfortable experience. Bringing a hand fan is also a smart idea.
As for the food, it was good, though not exceptional. I’m used to Italian cuisine, which is my favorite, so I may be more critical than most. I ordered the truffle pasta, which I would definitely recommend – it was flavorful and satisfying. My husband had the pasta with meatballs in tomato sauce. While the sauce was rich and well-balanced, the portion – only three meatballs – felt too small for a main course. He found it enjoyable, but not remarkable.
We also shared a tomato and burrata salad, which complemented the pasta beautifully with its freshness and creaminess.
Service was friendly and attentive, and prices were moderate, appropriate for the location and quality.
Overall, Rikito is a pleasant spot for dinner in one of Palma’s most charming neighborhoods. Just make sure to reserve well in advance, ask for an outdoor table, and perhaps bring a fan if you’re dining in the...
Read moreI booked a reservation for lunch after hearing amazing things. I was really looking forward to it and have been skipping Italian options during my trip knowing I was coming here.
I booked right at lunch opening and it was busy quick. I only ordered the lady and the tramp. The meal came and looked good. However, the noodles were not cooked through and were gummy and chewy and the meatballs were so hard to cut through because they were so dry and hard. Not one time did the waitress stop and ask how the food was. It was clear that I maybe had two bites. Meanwhile the table beside me ordered at the same time and had finished their meals and the waiter finally came to clear their plates and ask if they wanted a dessert menu. She still never looked at me and I said I’m all done too. She nodded and said ok but then never came back to take my food. I’m still waiting there for another 15 mins and I look back as she serving another table and asked for my check. She finally came over and she said was everything ok. I said no… the pasta was not cooked through and the meatballs are so dry and hard. She said why didn’t I say something when she came to checked. I laughed and said you never came to check. I even said I was all done when you cleared their food referring to the people 1 ft away. She smartly smiled. I paid the full $28 euro for my water and two bites of pasta and not a word from her. Even the people on either side of me was said she would have known if she checked in ever. The people beside me were also annoyed at how long their food was taking to come. Biggest let down. You can see in the picture the pasta was not cooked from the bottom noodle I cut. I tried multiple noodles and they were all the same. The people beside me too laughed when I tried to cut into the meatball because it almost flew...
Read moreI dined in Rikto last Thursday, when I ordered a pizza described as having grilled aubergine. The pizza arrived with a thick aubergine paste base, upon tasting it was inedible. The paste being all that I could taste, as it was extremely thickly layered on. The waitress did not and returned to ask if everything was okay with the meal for the 30 minutes I was sat with less than one slice eaten, even though it was clear it had been noticed. Once my friend had eaten her meal the waitress came over and said “girls everything was lovely?” This is when I explained that the aubergine base was extremely overpowering and so I could not eat it. The witness continued to ask me to repeat the word overpowering five times, then insinuating it was not a word. I explained that the taste of the aubergine took away from the rest of the pizza, and I was told I clearly didn’t like aubergine then and so shouldn’t have ordered the pizza. The waitress then asked if I would like a takeaway box and presented the bill, saying they had heavily discounted the pizza (30% on a 19 euro pizza), as I hadn’t eaten or tried to eat any of it. Throughout the whole interaction my friend and myself were called girls and spoke to with an extremely condescending tone. Throughout my experience in Rikito I felt the service was severely subpar and the food quality was not at all reflective of their prices or taste in...
