Authentically DELICIOUS Food, a tad overpriced and GERMAN COCKROACH running at our feet & climbing walls not pleasant
Romantic setting for my Fiancé and me in Xólotl, Palma de Mallorca on 16.06.2023. Very charming location in the restaurant which is mood-lit. The Staff were positively spirited and welcoming. As a Hispanic American, I had the pleasure and privilege of growing up around Mexican Cuisine. My expectations exceeded indeed here @ Xólotl with their delectable and authentically Mexican in taste, appearance.
German Cockroach.
The Xólotl Resident aka Large German Cockroach with the energy of a top-performing Olympian Runner, first scurried at pace across our dining floor and under a plates & dishes rack. My Fiancé figuratively sha* herself but I booked her the surprise dinner at Xólotl so felt strongly compelled to "fix the nightmare" telling her to calm down (whilst the other diners around us shot up out of their seats including a little girl visibly mortified, white as a sheet with her facial expression likened to exclaiming 'wait, what? so you are telling me my dad is not my father!?). I managed to humorously atone the situation and my cutie Fiancé sat back down.
Round 2 -
German Cockroach makes his or her Main Show appearance. Running fast toward our table. Cue the Guest's uproar....I can't win in life man! All Diners on their seats or standing against the back walls of the restaurant while wannabe hero (me) shoots into the Xólotl Kitchen like a rampant Border Patrol direly hoping to as quietly as possible explain to Restaurant Xólotl Staff that they have a sizeable cockroach wreaking havoc a few feet away in their Dining Room. No physical menu/s on tables and only method of viewing food & drink available to order at Xólotl can be seen by first scanning with Diner's mobile phones a QR Code showing atop pieces of block wood atop each table. Xólotl Restaurant does not make Diner's aware of this necessity so we sat at our table for 10 minutes peering around like a deer in headlights awaiting the arrival of a Waiter/ess before 'figuring it out'. *EDIT - The real hero is the taller man and fellow diner there with his wife at an adjacent table that took matter into his own hands after Xólotl Staff did nothing. The Diner took one of his shoes off and smashed the Cockroach against the wall approximately half way up on it's way to safety. Cockroach guts everywhere, a louder cheering from all and No apology at all from Xólotl Staff. Not even an acknowledgment of the incident.
Conclusion:
The Food at Xólotl, Palma Mallorca was extraordinary *

The staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel comfortable the moment you walk through the door.
Now, onto the food – it was awesome! The menu boasts a wide variety of Mexican classics, from tacos and enchiladas. I started with the guacamole, which was fresh and bursting with flavor, accompanied by perfectly crisp tortilla chips. There were 5 of us that shared multiple dishes, the pork was tender and juicy, seasoned to perfection, and topped with a zesty salsa that added just the right amount of kick.
The corona cocktails are a must-try as well! They offer a variety of flavors, and each one is expertly crafted, providing a refreshing complement to the spicy dishes.
Overall, Xólotl is a gem in Mallorca. Whether you're a local or a tourist, this restaurant is worth a visit for its delicious...
