Authentically DELICIOUS Food, a tad overpriced and GERMAN COCKROACH running at our feet & climbing walls not pleasant

Romantic setting for my Fiancé and me in Xólotl, Palma de Mallorca on 16.06.2023. Very charming location in the restaurant which is mood-lit. The Staff were positively spirited and welcoming. As a Hispanic American, I had the pleasure and privilege of growing up around Mexican Cuisine. My expectations exceeded indeed here @ Xólotl with their delectable and authentically Mexican in taste, appearance.

German Cockroach.

The Xólotl Resident aka Large German Cockroach with the energy of a top-performing Olympian Runner, first scurried at pace across our dining floor and under a plates & dishes rack. My Fiancé figuratively sha* herself but I booked her the surprise dinner at Xólotl so felt strongly compelled to "fix the nightmare" telling her to calm down (whilst the other diners around us shot up out of their seats including a little girl visibly mortified, white as a sheet with her facial expression likened to exclaiming 'wait, what? so you are telling me my dad is not my father!?). I managed to humorously atone the situation and my cutie Fiancé sat back down.

Round 2 -

German Cockroach makes his or her Main Show appearance. Running fast toward our table. Cue the Guest's uproar....I can't win in life man! All Diners on their seats or standing against the back walls of the restaurant while wannabe hero (me) shoots into the Xólotl Kitchen like a rampant Border Patrol direly hoping to as quietly as possible explain to Restaurant Xólotl Staff that they have a sizeable cockroach wreaking havoc a few feet away in their Dining Room. No physical menu/s on tables and only method of viewing food & drink available to order at Xólotl can be seen by first scanning with Diner's mobile phones a QR Code showing atop pieces of block wood atop each table. Xólotl Restaurant does not make Diner's aware of this necessity so we sat at our table for 10 minutes peering around like a deer in headlights awaiting the arrival of a Waiter/ess before 'figuring it out'. *EDIT - The real hero is the taller man and fellow diner there with his wife at an adjacent table that took matter into his own hands after Xólotl Staff did nothing. The Diner took one of his shoes off and smashed the Cockroach against the wall approximately half way up on it's way to safety. Cockroach guts everywhere, a louder cheering from all and No apology at all from Xólotl Staff. Not even an acknowledgment of the incident.

Conclusion:

The Food at Xólotl, Palma Mallorca was extraordinary *

The Atmosphere @ Xólotl, Palma Mallorca was eventful sure but lovely decorated plates + great beer

Menu is Truly Mexican albeit more expensive

Portion Sizes: Very lacklustre/smaller and if it were not for the free appetiser brought to our table by mistake, we would have...

I recently dined at Xólotl in Mallorca, and I must say, it was a nice experience from start to finish. This casual Mexican restaurant, tucked away in the bustling streets of Palma, offers a delightful escape to Mexico with its cool decor and authentic cuisine.

The staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel comfortable the moment you walk through the door.

Now, onto the food – it was awesome! The menu boasts a wide variety of Mexican classics, from tacos and enchiladas. I started with the guacamole, which was fresh and bursting with flavor, accompanied by perfectly crisp tortilla chips. There were 5 of us that shared multiple dishes, the pork was tender and juicy, seasoned to perfection, and topped with a zesty salsa that added just the right amount of kick.

The corona cocktails are a must-try as well! They offer a variety of flavors, and each one is expertly crafted, providing a refreshing complement to the spicy dishes.

Overall, Xólotl is a gem in Mallorca. Whether you're a local or a tourist, this restaurant is worth a visit for its delicious...

Hidden Gem for Authentic Mexican Vibes in Palma

If you’re looking for a slice of authentic Mexico tucked away in Palma, this small restaurant and bar is a must-visit! From the moment you step in, you feel like you’ve been welcomed into a lively Mexican family gathering. The staff may not speak much English, but they go out of their way to make you feel at home and ensure you have an amazing experience. I can’t handle much spice, but they were so attentive, suggesting dishes and adjusting flavors just for me.

The food is outstanding—every bite bursts with traditional Mexican flavors, and you can tell it’s made with love. The live music, too, adds an incredible touch, filling the space with warmth and energy. It’s more than just background entertainment; it’s like you’re part of a celebration.

This spot is truly a hidden gem, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a unique, authentic experience in Palma....

Delicious nachos and home made Margaritas, as well as Golden Tacos. They have plenty of vegan options (fabulous dishes with vegan cheese, which is a great value added). They have internet connection and the employees are extremely nice and thoughtful. If I had to point out a weakness it would be the seats. Unfortunately they are very uncomfortable and small, which has been even a bigger issue for me as I am relatively tall. You can choose between a bench and a seat, both beginning to give some back pain if you decide to have a longer stay there or some family dinner. Overall it’s uncomfortable and the longer you sit the bigger this feeling gets. Other than that I was very satisfied with the service and food.

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this should definitely be your first stop. Xólotl is a small little place doing so well at putting out amazing Mexican cuisine. The corn tortillas are definitely homemade and you can taste it. Osyerter were super fresh and the little shot that comes with them was such an amazing touch super refreshing with a touch of tequila. The Raspberry Aguachile was super fresh but just a tad on the salty side, although still very delicious. The pastor and the fish tacos were full of flavor with the homemade tortillas making them the stsr of the show for me! And the mezcal drinks were top notch! The service was also super friendly and very attentive :)

This is some innovative Mexican cuisine! Not your typical greasy Mexican. This chef put on next level dishes. All unique and perfectly curated. I had the sea bream ceviche and the tuna tartar with a couple delicious mezcal specialty cocktails. The fish was so incredibly fresh and the flavors were insane! They also have great vegan options which I typically seek out - while my partner enjoys all the meat dishes. It was a great option for both of us. One of the best meals I’ve had in the past month of traveling through Spain! Bravo, thank you for such a wonderful experience!
