Not in the main bar area, but totally worth a visit
Spot is not exaaaactly where all the other bars full of people are, but I wouldn’t call it a hidden gem. It has good beer, it has good sangria, and it has good food. Showing up spontaneously may or may not result in being seated, even away from the high season, so book if possible. I had to call to try and get a last minute table and was fortunate.
The first good surprise was the beer, because we just ordered “beer” and they didn’t give us any choice, so I was expecting default watery Spanish beer, but no. It was a quite tasty lager, with some lovely bitterness. We also ordered sangria, which was good (don’t know sangria well enough to go beyond that). Didn’t try any of the cocktails.
We shared some tapas as appetizers, and all were quite delicious. Ham croquettes, aubergine croquettes and tortitas with tuna sashimi, which were particularly lovely. Crunchy and tasty.
Each of the four of us got a different main dish: lomo alto (beef steak with garlic frenologia and rustic sweet potato roasted whole), lamb kefta with yoghurt wrapped in pita, squid with pine nuts and some soup which my friend regretted because he got envious of our dishes 😂 Their presentation is simple and very well done. My steak was cooked perfectly, soft and juicy. Everybody else was also full of compliments for the dishes.
The place is in a touristic island and is kinda fancy-ish, so don’t expect the cheapest prices, but I thought it was quite reasonable given what we ate and drank. Slightly short of 200 euros for four people with beers, sangrias, waters, coffee, appetizers, main dishes and a slice of banoffee for dessert. Not bad at all! Service might be slow at times, but it’s because of understaffing and not because the waiters and waitresses are bad.
We were all quite happy with our...
Read moreSummary: cozy place with a bit overpriced food.
The place, in my opinion, is really well decorated. I would have never said there was a place like this judging by the street. The service was eficient and welcoming. My main problem with this place is the food. Is it bad? Not at all, but overpriced for what you get. I mean, the price is what I expected once I've seen the decoration, but the food lacks more flavors or the portions are small. For instance, one of my colleges ordered the Pekin style duck; he was frozen when he saw how small it was. However, he said that it was quite good. The pasta looked nice and the pizzas looked delicious. However, I asked one of my colleges about the pizza and the answer was: "good dough, but I'm only tasting the mozzarella. It's like they forgot that you need more ingredients to make a good pizza". A friend of mine ordered the tuna tartar. It just didn't looked that good, but I asked about it: "I love tuna tartar and I do know the fish. This tuna has been frozen. If you cannot offer a good tuna, just either don't list the dish on your menu or set it at a reasonable price". I ordered the sirloin tacos. I was astonished when I saw the dish: couldn't be better presented. To my disappointment, even if the sauce was really good, the meat was just not tender at all! A pity. So, all in all, I was disappointed. Maybe we the chef had a bad day, I don't know. All in all, I guess this is a perfect place to have a group dinner as it's a really big place, but not a place to...
Read moreWe had such high expectations of this place after being told by many people how their experience was great how ever we were highly disappointed.
The service was very lacking. No attention to detail, we were served by 3 different people of which was very confusing. We were forgotten numerous times, where plates were left empty on the table for over 20 mins despite servers walking by. We were never asked once during our meals if everything was ok or if we enjoying our time and experience.
The food…. Our ceviche came out looking like a box salad you buy from the supermarket… lettuce, canned beans uncooked, cured fish, sliced avocado on the side, a squirt of cold sweet potato puree with a corn chip to garnish. It just looked sad. The duck pancakes we ordered were ok how ever the whole presentation just looked bare. And worst of all the octopus…. It was so tough we had to send it back. The server asked when I told her “oh is it like a piece of gum” it was beyond that point - it was like a car tyre. We were then told that octopus is a hard dish to cook so maybe we should pick something else…. Never have I ever had that experience… if you can’t cook something - take it off the menu.
For such a beautiful atmosphere it’s sad the service and food did not match. We won’t be returning...
