La Habanera Karaoke — Restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz

Went here for a night out waited till we saw people going in, we got our first drink (probably due to us and one other table there) but I went to the bar to ask about female toilets for my girlfriend and to get another round of drinks I essentially just got blanked. I've lived in mainland Spain for 13+years so I know Spanish really well, I tried to get the waitresses attention she just walked past me, I thought she might be busy I'll ask at the bar stood at the bar one guy pouring drinks didn't even look towards me (fair he's busy) but the other younger waiter finished serving so I said excuse me (in Spanish) to where he just turned away so again I thought I'll wait to then have a local lady zip past me to him turning round and started to talk to her instead. Seems the negative comments are true which is a shame as it seems a cool place but clearly some of the staff team aren't a friend of "tourists".

Another side note was we kept getting looked up and down by some of the waiters and locals as if we was not meant to be there made my family very uncomfortable.

I arrived there about 50 minutes past opening hour, and I was surprised to see a chain blocking the entrance. A man, who was chilling at an outside table with what seemed to be his friends, came up to me. I asked him in my best Spanish if I could enter. He said 'no, you wait'. So not knowing what was going on, I sat down on a stool. I noticed the man and his friends were actually the employees then, judging by their matching outfits. I've actually worked in the service sector, so when I saw it was quite clear. I asked the man if I could have a drink. 'No'. came with a group of friends and me and the other girl were let straight in despite wearing a skirt and short shorts yet both our boyfriends were refused entry “for wearing shorts” in 25 degree heat. (they didn’t pack jeans for a hot holiday) to walk in and it be FULL of all young girls just so i could get grabbed by someone that worked there within minutes. super clear why they don’t let the boys in now. literally disgusting. just for us girls to be asked to leave and had our drinks poured into takeout cups for asking the manager why they weren’t allowed in. horrid place. advice for any younger girlies on...
