TL;DR: there are plenty of other restaurants in Maspalomas that you should prioritize over Nihao!
My boyfriend and I ate dinner here on Sunday around 9 pm. During our dinner stay, there were 2-3 other tables in the restaurant that were also being served, meaning that the restaurant was rather empty. This should make it possible for restaurant staff to be extra tentative to their guests, but seemed to have the opposite effect. Instead of asking if the guests needed anything or following up with how the food tasted, the staff was just huddled around the kitchen area, talking. When we got the food, there was no introduction to the dishes, and we also didn’t get any plates. We had to specifically ask to get plates. The dishes came out at separate times, even though you would expect to get the sushi we ordered at the same time. Or closer together, at least. The sushi tasted okay, but fell apart the second you picked it up. Didn’t seem like well cooked sushi rice, more like basmati rice. We also bought a bottle of wine, which we ended up pouring ourselves because the staff stayed huddled at the kitchen the entire dinner through. They never came out to ask how the meal was or if we wanted the bill. After getting up from the table and walking over to the entrance area, we finally got the bill.
All in all, this felt like a complete waste of money and time, wasn’t even worth half the money we...
Read moreIf you are staying the Lopesan Costa Melanorous hotel, I would avoid this restaurant. There is no atmosphere - it pitches itself as luxurious but is just stuffy. The food is very overpriced and the portions are small. There is a set menu for 40€, but this is only available in a certain part of the restaurant and we were told we could not have this after being seated elsewhere. The sushi was mediocre. My partners beef dish was very tasty, but unfortunately did not come with rice, despite being 20€ so we had to spend money on that too. The cheapest bottle of wine is 40€ which I think is really off putting. It was the worst restaurant we visited on our week long break - spend your money in the local restaurants surrounding the hotel instead, they are vibrant and atmospheric. One positive I will say is that the staff are very kind and treated my 1 year old baby very well. They brightened up what...
Read moreSimply put, it's very, very expensive. Cheapest house red wine is 40 euros! That's simply not fair, there should be at least one reasonably priced wine. We went expecting a set course menu for 30 euros each, after spotting this in past reviews. It's now 40 euros each but you can only have it if you sit in a certain area. We were told this after being sat in the expensive area, where prices are eye watering. We only had a main meal and a beer which was 55 euros and left very hungry. Ironically if I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off I would have spent double that. To be fair, the food was very nice, what little there was of it and the staff were super polite and friendly. The atmosphere is very stuffy, but perhaps if you are rich and like being ripped off you will enjoy it. If you have any sense though you will head over to the Thai place on the...
