We had a really lovely time at d'tapas 26.
We hadn't booked (you can't) but we had a table straight away around 19:45). However, within the hour the restaurant was unable to take any more clients. So I think the earlier you get here the better.
Bryan the waiter was excellent. Polite and helpful, not over bearing, just a great restaurant manager.
We had aperitifs (Breton kir and the vermouth de grife). I've only ever had Vermouth in martinis before, and having a red Vermouth over ice was a revelation. Delicious.
We had small plates for our dinner - green salad with tomatoes and fruit (delicious), duo of ham and cheeses (delicious), wrinkled potatoes with green and red mojo (a local potato which is served with a coriander {?} sauce and a chilli sauce) (delicious!) and finally a portion of the confit cod (cod with honey, and I think soy sauce) pan fried. I think the cooking was flawless. The dishes arrived one at a time (over a period of about an hour). We were fine with that as it was quite a lot of food in and it was helpful to have a break in between dishes.
We also had a couple of beers. After we had paid, Bryan gave us she some sweet mini donuts and shots of honeyed rum, free of charge. The whole meal came to €61.50.
Bryan and José were superb. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Great food, great service, great prices. If you are in Santa Cruz give it a go. You will not be disappointed. (But make sure you go for the tapas sized portions so you can try lots of stuff - a couple sitting next to us who had the plate sized dishes were displaying tapas envy when the confit cod appeared! 😂).
Thanks Bryan and José for a terrific evening. I am sure we...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at D'Tapas 26 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The menu has a wide selection of tapas, both fish and meat, which were all cooked to perfection. The dish that truly stood out was the octopus, which was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful flavour. The chupitos (shots) were also a great way to end the meal.
Overall, I highly recommend D'Tapas 26 to anyone looking for a great tapas experience. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. If you're ever in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, I highly recommend checking out this restaurant. You won't be...
Read moreThis place doesn’t deserve the rate it has. We ordered 6 different tapas. The octopus was not fresh, the potatoes were not cooked- we asked the waitor why are the potatoes undercooked he said that “they are supposed to be like that because it is a “special” kind of potatoes.” We order a dish with cod fish that was put in this mixture of randomly cooked vegetables all goey and tasteless. The spieces used for the dishes did not fit the dishes and some flavors were so intense we were unable to eat it normally. It is like a cook discovered all strong herbs that exist and put them on not fresh food. All three of us got sick the next day. The bill for 6 tapas was 96€ and honestly one of the worst meals...
