Had to laugh so I wouldn’t cry. It’s beautiful with a high ceiling, lots of decorative woodwork, grand piano… but looks are deceiving. Table was dirty. I told the waiter and he said “It’s ok.” Thinking maybe he didn't understand me, i let it go. Ordered a couple of beers, 2 appetizers and a pizza. I will bet anyone €100 that pizza was a Dr. Oetker pizza speciale. (Frozen pizza you can get at the grocery for €3.) It was cold in the middle, like still frozen. We sent it back and it came out completely burnt. I would post a pic but the restaurant has a sign that they don't allow pictures of anything. Now we know why. It also took a really long time- at least 30 min for the appetizers and there were only customers at about 7 tables then- was not busy at all. There are a few good pictures here to show this on other reviews. It is the indoor area that sets it aside from the other cafes in the area and I suggest this should be your preferred option of choice.
A light pasta lunch of ravioli and a spaghetti carbonara were nicely presented and had plenty of flavour. Portions were sized as a nice lunch bowl, or pasta course in a larger meal. A soft drink and single glass of beer were the only extras. A total bill of €28 was appropriate for the quality and surroundings. The low score is unfounded as this is an experience to enjoy for the grand history and aura.

Service and food were amazing, and it was fun to watch the casco vello (old city) while we ate and talked. We adored our server Antony, who was kind, knowledgeable, charming (like a classic film star, per my wife) and helped us find some great vegetarian options (which is sometimes hard to do in Spanish cuisine): the pimientos de Padron were terrific here, as well as the vegetable paella, and a half-tabla of cheese (not on the menu as such).
