Los Amigos Bar & Restaurante — Restaurant in Santiago de Compostela

Tonight we visited Los Amigos, and unfortunately it was very below our expectations. The ambience is nice and very suitable for groups, and the service is helpful and fast, but not rushed, which is great. However, the food wasn't anything close in quality to what we hoped for. Before going to the low points, I'd like to acknowledge that the Pimientos de Padrón were the best thing we had in the whole dinner. They were flavorful, the salt quantity was perfect, and if we had decided to have beers, it would've been a great appetizer. Besides the pimientos, we had tequeños de queso and croquetas de jamón. Both tasted like supermarket frozen food that was just baked in the oven. I really apologize if they are made by the kitchen staff, but I also highly recommend reviewing the recipes if that's the case. Both the croquetas and the tequeños were very bland, almost flavorless, which is almost unbelievable for the croquetas, considering the strong taste that a small quantity of plain basic jamón has. At least it was edible, and since we are very against wasting food unless it's really unavoidable, we finished it. ---- Another good thing: The sauce that comes with the tequeños was able to provide a bit of flavor, since it was good too!

In comparison to our experience with the food, the prices charged are also higher than some of the surrounding establishments of the same level (each small croqueta costed €1.5, and each small tequeño €2, though the portion of the pimientos was very good for the price). As an example, we went to a café bar nearby earlier in the day, that used only premium products both for beverages and food, very well decorated, ordered the same amount of items, for dishes that cost more to the owners and quite bigger than the ones we had at Los Amigos, and still spent 5 euros less. Overall, this is mainly a suggestion of improvement, because there's definitely a lot of potential to explore, but at the moment, these issues could lead to a reduction of customers in the future, harming the business that can definitely be...

We visited this place as it has high valuations in both The Fork and TripAdvisor but obviously the valuations are fake. We ordered fried cheesefinger which we still frozen inside, hummus they served directly out of a can and the restaurant was completely empty when we arrived. The atmosphere isn’t anything pleasant either - no music but a loud noice from machinery in the kitchen which made it almost impossible to have a conversation. To top it of when we told that we would pay the fork reservation through the fork pay they refused and said that they owner who sat outside said that it was not possible. Not a place I would recommend my worst enemy. Really...

Friendly woman behind the bar, but overall the place was filthy.

The hamburger served was pricey, but not baked properly and was still raw inside 😐 but I was too disappointed to protest.

Even the beer turned out to be more expensive than in the touristic heart of Santiago de Compostela.

One little bright spot: the fries served with the hamburger were quite tasty 😉

Bottom line: "Los Amigos" may be excellent for the few "local amigos", but certainly not for the random and innocent peregrino/a who is looking for a decent snack on his Camino.

What a pity. It takes only some little extra effort to mend...
