We walked in here randomly, after we couldn’t get seats at another restaurant we were trying to go to, and I am so glad we did.
This place is a hidden gem.
On first glance, it doesn’t look particularly unique. The space and the menu look very traditional. But they actually do a lot of interesting things on the menu that turned out to be both surprising and really delicious. Would love to come back.
What we got the mixed Iberian meat platter - solid the seasonal gazpacho with cucumber sorbet - this was incredible. The gazpacho was good by itself but together with the cucumber sorbet was magical anchovies - very good. Not too salty. Would have been nice if this was offered in a half portion though grilled baby squid with black garlic mayo - grilled perfectly, it was delicious Iberian pork spare ribs with ceviche of peach, orange, and espagnole sauce - my partner loves steak and has been having it a couple times a week all month last month in France. But we both agreed this was the best ‘steak’ we’ve had all summer. It was cooked perfectly, and the flavors with the ceviche was incredible
Service was kind and thoughtful Not too slow 😂
Only thing that could have been better - the music! It was a weird collection of old pop songs and acoustic covers. That was the only thing that felt wasn’t up to the quality of...
Read moreWe really liked the place, especially its name that we saw all over the city. Perhaps our expectations were quite high.
No one, absolutely no one, speaks English. A young girl took our order, and we showed her what we wanted to order from the Spanish menu. We ordered Iberico ham, appetizer, and main course. First, the hot appetizer arrived, and we didn't mind that. Then the main course came. When I asked if maybe the cold appetizer would be better, as we wouldn't order it after the main course, they took back the main course, and about 20 minutes later, I'm sure they brought out the same dish. Its texture was not the same. The young girl absolutely didn't know what she was doing or what to do throughout the entire service.
We asked for two glasses of wine, and on the second round, I didn't get the same wine glass. We waited about 20 minutes to be able to ask for the bill. Another 20 minutes passed until we could actually pay. The young girl asked for the pin code quite arrogantly. Then she called the manager, who also doesn't speak English. He didn't greet us either. He seemed not to care about what was happening in the restaurant.
In such a beautiful restaurant, with such delicious food, I couldn't believe they provide such service. Very...

Pedimos croquetas, calamares torreznos y salmorejo.
Las croquetas estaban de fábula. Realmente ricas.
We went to this restaurant because we had an early meal, and it was one of the few that were open. Besides its reputation, we were guided by the Google reviews. It is a very touristy place, and personally, it's not the type of restaurant I would choose if I were a local.
Although the food was delicious, I don't consider this place to be anything exceptional. Of course, their star product is the 5J ham, which is truly delightful.
We ordered croquettes, squid, torreznos (pork cracklings), and salmorejo (a cold tomato soup).
The croquettes were fantastic, really tasty. The intense and rich flavor comes from the 5J ham. However, I don't think the ham alone makes the croquettes the best I've ever had.
The torreznos were very tasty and crunchy. They came with padrón peppers, which were also delicious. I recommend this dish to share between two or more people.
The salmorejo was also very flavorful. However, the 5J ham didn't add a significant difference. Nevertheless, it's a highly recommended dish for a refreshing option.
The squid was the weakest dish. They weren't bad at all, but they were far from being excellent fried calamari. Again, it's important to keep in mind that their star product is the 5J ham, not the calamari. The waitress actually mentioned this when she handed us the menu, and I find it to be a good and clever gesture on their part. It helps customers make their food choices and sets the right expectations.
The service was good and fast.
We paid 53 Euros for everything, including drinks. I think it was a bit expensive, but...
