Very disappointing experience
We went to Casa Carmen for dinner and asked in advance if it was still possible to eat, since it was getting late. We were told that the kitchen would close in 10 minutes, but that we could still place an order and stay afterwards to enjoy a drink.
So we ordered our food, but in the middle of our meal we were suddenly asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu — while we were still eating. Not long after, and without even having finished our main course, the bill was abruptly placed on our table. At that point, we had only been sitting for about 45 minutes.
To make things worse, we were told to leave, even though we hadn’t finished our drinks yet. All of this happened despite being clearly told beforehand that only the kitchen would close, and that we could stay and relax afterwards.
On top of that, the portions were extremely small — especially considering the price.
Overall, the entire experience felt rushed and unwelcoming. Such a shame, as we were really looking forward to a relaxed dinner. Not recommended if you’re looking for hospitality, proper portion sizes, or a peaceful...

The outward impression is deceptive. When you visit, you can expect QUALITATIVELY POOR FOOD and POOR SERVICE.
The waiter gave us the feeling of being unwanted. He took our order without saying anything polite, disappeared and came back about 7 minutes later with our "food" (we had the chicken tikka marsala twice).
The "food" was probably heated in the MICROWAVE (it was lukewarm at best) rather than freshly prepared. The "meat" (chicken) was DRY and TASTELESS and strongly reminiscent of pre-cooked dishes from the chilled section of a supermarket. The tiny portion of meat was served on a few spoonfuls of undercooked rice and topped with an ominous brown sauce that had nothing to do with tikka marsala and was probably also bought ready-made.
We quickly ordered the bill and discreetly asked the waiter about the POOR QUALITY of the food (he didn't ask). His reaction was absolutely cheeky: you could have said something earlier when you got the plates... Basically, it's true that you shouldn't have accepted the food like that under any circumstances and a return would have been necessary... but you're a tourist, you don't want to attract unpleasant attention... that's why you get penalised.
You don't serve a "meal" like that by mistake. I am sure that the waiter was already aware of the inferior quality... It's a cheeky impertinence to serve customers something like that but then to react unkindly to politely formulated criticism is a direct insult. He even got loud with us!
The whole place was empty apart from 3 tables and quite rightly so, THERE IS NO RIGHT TO BE THERE!
Read moreWe chose this restaurant for a New Year's Eve dinner and had a mixed experience. The personnel was super attentive and professional. 5 stars to them. The setting looked nice. However, the food was to say it polite - very average. Salad with 3 deep-fried partially uncleaned shrimps was a failure. Salmon for a second course was very good, though. A beef medallion was an absolute failure. It was super chewy and totally overlooked. It simply couldn't be eaten. Many tables returned the meat back. However, except for a "sorry" the restaurant did not manage to cover for this mistake. Not the best behaviour, considering the special occasion. This is simply unacceptable for a New Year dinner. You should have known your meat supplier and train to cook the meat in advance. For a 95 eur dinner per person, this is just unacceptable! Cheesecake interpretation was good, but not awesome. Average wine and unlimited soft drinks were included. A bottle of sparkling wine and 12 grapes were also included. So, the experience was not the best, overall, for...
