Mary's Place Diner (Nervion) — Restaurant in Seville

Lazy and uninspired.

This is an American themed restaurant. I am American (my family is from Texas, making me Tejana which will be important later). I was excited to see it and I wanted to love it. The restaurant is lazily decorated. Coke paraphernalia was sprinkled lightly through the restaurant, there were some American sodas decorating a wall, and then it was like cheap and tacky lights were installed to compensate for the lack of substance. There isn’t anything in this place I would otherwise describe as uniquely American. I feel like there are many missed opportunities here such as sleek diner seating from American diners that were popularized in the late 1940s and mid 1950s and are synonymous with American identity etc. The style of the restaurant itself seems conflicted like it can’t make up its mind what genre it intends to be. All together, the concept needs refinement.

The food is as uninspired as the decor. I had the nachos. They were bland, with virtually no seasoning at all. They got the nacho cheese sauce right (good ole American over processed neon yellow cheese). To be fair, this all is to be expected of white America and it reminded me of the meals served in public high schools or in rural hospital cafeterias. I would’ve appreciated some seasoning at the very least but at the most? If TexMex is being served, I would’ve liked to see some salsa blanca or salsa roja. And what were those atrocities the restaurant is passing off as chips? Black chips in nachos? It was odd. I have seen those at a supermarket here but they are never, ever served in American restaurants and they certainly aren’t of a TexMex origin.

I apologize for the negativity but I want to make sure people manage their expectations. If the goal is to eat at an American restaurant to experience a slice of Americana? You would achieve it in part because you will be experiencing Americana, Despair edition. If you want to experience the best or most interesting sides to Americana, I’m sorry but you won’t find it here without revisions made to the food and...

I would love to give this even higher stars if I could!

From the start the service was great we were greeted perfectly and seated swiftly.

The menu (QR code) was explained to us and we ordered the all cheese burger, fingers licking good and hellburger. You have the option to choose how you want your burger cooked (well done, medium, etc). They were cooked well and tasty. They also have a vegan friendly menu.

The presentation of the food was brilliant and the portion sizes are great. I ate mine too quickly to get a photo.

It’s also wheelchair accessible.

I wish we had found this place...

Otra hamburgueserías que se gana un buen puesto en mi lista de favoritos. Desde hace tiempo que tenía ganas de probarlo, y cumplió mis expectativas.

Local de dimensiones medianas, más o menos como para cincuenta personas, sin terraza, y zona de barra. Es recomendable reservar con antelación pues el local suele estar bastante concurrido (y con razón).

Comportamiento de los camareros educado y servicial.

Carta bastante amplia y variada, tanto por entrantes como por hamburguesas. Los entrantes son muy recomendables, pues te puedes encontrar algo interesante para picar o compartir mientras se preparan las burguers.

En lo que respecta a las burguers, es destacable no sólo por su amplia gama de opciones, desdd clásicas hasta premium, sino por la posibilidad de poder "personalizar" cada una de ellas, como poder pedir una patty (180 gramos por unos 10-11€) o dos patties (360 gramos por unos 14-15€) de carne, pan normal o americano, punto de la carne, ingredientes extra... Personalmente, recomiendo pedir sólo de una patty, ya que he podido observar que los clientes que se piden la doble acaban un poco saturados. Disfrutarás más con una sola y, si te quedas con hambre, siempre te puedes pedir un entremés o incluso otra burguer. Los camareros preguntan por el punto de la carne, detalle a valorar.

Otro punto a destacar es la posibilidad de solicitar menú del día, con hamburguesa, patatas y bebida. No estoy seguro pero creo que es aplicable de lunes a viernes a mediodía.
