Taberna del Arenal — Restaurant in Seville

I visited Taberna del Arenal in Seville and was truly charmed by its authentic atmosphere and tasty offerings. Located in the historic El Arenal neighborhood, the bar has a warm, welcoming vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating that fills up quickly at peak times. The tapas themselves are the highlight—moderately priced and generously portioned. One dish that stood out was their solomillo a la carbonara, a house specialty praised by locals and visitors alike. I also tried the bombon de queso, a delightful cheese bite with a sweet touch, and the gratín de carne with tomato and eggplant, both rich in flavor. Pairing these with a cold local lager made the meal even more enjoyable. Service was friendly and attentive, though during busy periods the pace can slow slightly. I noticed the salmorejo was also highly recommended among diners. The setting is lively and true to Sevillian tradition, making it feel more like a local gathering place than a touristy spot. Prices are mid‑range and offer excellent value given the quality and quantity. One of the worst out night of my life. Bad food, bad atmosphere, and a bag stolen with no care nor help provided by the restaurant...

Details: We have been welcomed decently and asked to wait at the bar for a table. Not a problem till there, as we decided to get started with a bottle of red wine that turned out to be pretty good.

After that, disaster after disaster... We waited 1 hour and half for our table, despite frequently asking. At some point, it become clear that they were giving tables to people arriving after us, not sure if this was for lack of care or pure xenophobia. Eventually we got the table after complaining vigorously. After that, the waiter started to be extremely rude. Food was not good. Solomino was 2 pieces of bad looking meat with some sauce and a bit of not crunchy fried potatoes.

Finally, cherry on top. Someone stole my partner's bag and within minutes we started to receive notifications of the credit card being used fraudulently. Also in this, 0 help from anybody working there. Few other guests helped looking inside the restaurant and helped us calling the police. Night ended up filing a report at the police station and calling banks and credit cards providers to...

We walked past this place close to 8:30 p.m. and there wasn't much going on in business.so we walked across the bridge to the other side of the river where it started to rain and it was suburbia, very delightful, but all the restaurants were slow.so we decided to walk back and go back to this restaurant, which was recommended by the hotel staff in the first place. They were now busy, and with the rain everybody was piling inside.where the service over all could have been definitely better, at the waitress we had was absolutely delightful and very helpful. We ended up drinking two glasses of wine and had four different tapas.I can't wait to come back to this place, though I'm leaving tomorrow for the rest of my vacation.
