35 years - that's how long I've been waiting to come back here. I used to come to Torrevieja as a child with my parents and this was one of our favorite restaurants, even today they still remember the prawns in garlic starter and the pizzas. In August this year I went to Spain with my wife and child, we stayed in Calpe and I rented a car just for a day trip to Torrevieja (1 and a half hours drive) to take them to Pizzeria Centro - after telling them all my great memories.
We arrived around 1pm and it looked like they were just getting ready to open. A woman was working there putting out chairs etc, I politely asked what time they were open and she pointed inside and said 'tables'. I wasn't sure what she meant, we looked inside and saw it was empty so we went up to her again and asked what time they opened. She very aggressively starting pointing at her watch and shouted (yes shouted) "When I am ready".
This was in front of my wife and 12 year old daughter. Her behavior was aggressive and extremally rude. This ruined something I had been greatly looking forward to all holiday, plus tarnished the memories of the place I had so many previous great times at.
The restaurant would do well to check the suitability of their staff for public facing jobs. Safe to say we didn't eat there, we went to Keeper on the front and had fantastic food and...
Read moreI've been to Torrevieja for the last 12 Summers. It's by far the worst restaurant i've been to. The service is awful. The food is even worse. And, on top of everything, it's expensive when compared to neighbouring restaurants. We were two and asked for 2 gazpachos and 2 pastas. After 45 minutes, the pastas came, and no sign of the gazpachos. We sent everything back, and waited for the gazpachos (that came in 5 minutes after that). Then, they brought back the pastas, and both had parsley, that we specifically asked them not to use. The dishes went back to the kitchen (again). They came back for the third time, and we finally ate. The flavour was absent. All we could taste was pepper and nutmeg. No bacon, no chicken, no cheese, no nothing but pepper and nutmeg. They left the used dishes on the table forever as well (I had to ask them to remove it). It's really, really bad! If you want an Italian restaurant in Torrevieja, try Muelle or buongiorno. They are a lot better, even on a bad day. Don't...
Read moreWe have been visiting Centro Pizza for the best part of fifteen years now, when we are in Torrevieja. There are plenty of options on the menu, which seems to have a bit of an international twist to it. The food is always good and the portions are large. Whilst it cannot be described as restaurant quality food it is certainly good home cooking and to be fair the prices generally reflect this. The staff are always willing to please and on the numerous visits that we have made over the years we have never had a poor meal served to us. Definitely...
