Went as a group of thirteen: late reservation but no problem! On arrival there was a slight confusion as the waiter that greeted us seemed to be under the impression that the table that had been reserved for us was already occupied. Again, no problem: we were quickly showed to another table. However the place does not sit vast numbers and got pretty busy so prior bokking is definitely recommend. Ambiance is agreeable what I would expect from a typical Italian restaurant with a sizeable bar in the middle effectively dividing the space in two dining areas with the kitchen/pizza oven visible at the back (always feel reassured at being able to see how the kitchen staff works!). Images of Italy on the walls: agreeable if nothing spectacular. Once seated the stars of this place started shining: Veronica the waitress immediately made us feel at home: took our orders (in two languages due to us being a mixed group and without having to write anything down!). Being lactose intolerant, I ordered the seafood spaghetti 'ak cartoccio' ( wrapped in tinfoil and steam cooked) but mostly everyone else had pizza. The food was delicious and in my opinion, quite authentic. As I walked to the register to settle the bill ( no issues with not being able to do so sitting down: we were just keen to hit the bars!) Veronica was being v patient with another table of young tourists who, far as I could make out, were squibbling amongst themselves for coming up short of the odd euro or two! Veronica seemed to be taking it all in good grace and even turned to me and let me settle my bill once this was still going on so I did not have to wait. good food, great service and good value: couldn't recommend...
Read moreLunch with my wife on a Friday. We were both extremely pleased with our Menu del Dia choices. Her Insalata al Caprino starter was the best goat cheese salad we've had so far in Valencia, my Frito Misto Napolitano was a splendid palate-pleasing variety of fried croquettes. Her Spaghetti alla Carbonara was rich and flavourful, and my Cannelloli al Ragu was, like all the other plates, authentic Rome-style taste, as good as any that we've had in Rome. Because it was a very warm day (38C), we chose a chilled Chardonnay (Utiel-Requena) and a Verdejo (Rueda) to accompany, which were great pairings for this excellent meal. Finally, the Apple Crumble and the Cheesecake desserts would satisfy the sweetest tooth! (in particular, the Cheesecake was syrupy sweet!) And the excellent attention from the Bar Manager and our waitress could not have been better!
It was our second time at La Piazza, and even better than the first, which was also a 5-star experience. It's becoming our preferred Italian restaurant in Valencia. Their well-priced Menu del Dia (11.50 Euros), with such excellent food choices and attentive service, is very...
Read moreWe decided to go to this restaurant because of the very good assessments. We ordered pasta with pesto and straciatella cheese and pasta with bolognese and two sangrias. the portions we’re very small. so we ask for our bill and said to the staff that the portions weren’t enough and we’re to small. He asked us for a dessert, we said NO. he went into the kitchen and and brought us a dessert, a dessert we didn’t want. we thought that’s a dessert for free because of the small portions. we asked for the bill again and he brought us the card reader (without our bill) with the price of 41€… we noticed that the dessert wasn’t for free, the dessert we didn’t ask for. We ate it and we have to wait for our bill round about 20 min again. We asked his colleague again for our bill. She brought the bill and the price were 39,50€. No dessert but the Sangrias for 7.50€ - the sangria from the neighbors table were 6€…. We felt discriminated and not good at this local. Very bad experience - we were sad...
