Lovely atmosphere with great cocktails and fun dishes.
I visited here with my wife for a late lunch on a Thursday. The restaurant was pretty full, but didn't feel too intimidating or loud. I had originally reserved a space outside, but the restaurant was kind enough to reach out to me ahead of time to recommend moving me inside for a better experience given the weather and street location.
Our waitress and the overall service was very friendly and prompt, having menus in both English and Spanish. As this was lunch, we went with a drink each and 3, relatively lighter dishes.
My cocktail, the Euphoria (tequila and fruit juice base), was amazing. Unique, sweet, and refreshing while still getting the balance with the agave and ginger. I could have had a pitcher of this!
My favorite food dish was their award-winning Patatas Bravas, an untraditional take on the classic appetizer. It was very well prepared, and I loved the creaminess of each bite. But it was the chipotle-sauce that accompanied it that really made it my favorite dish.
We also had the tacos and a rice dish with cherry that they only serve on Thursday's. The tacos are a bit pricey (25 euros for 4), but my wife especially loved them. The rice dish was a fine accompaniment, but felt it needed something a bit more - either a saltier or more contrasting component to balance the sweetness.
To end our experience we also ordered a dessert, going for La Pantera Rosa (Pink Panther). It was presented very cutesy and very pink, but I enjoyed it and appreciated the crumble with the creamy strawberry ice cream.
I would be very happy to come here again, but also am excited to one day try some of Quique Dascota's other...
Read moreOur friend gifted us a certificate as a going away gift. Unfortunately I became very ill since October and just only recovered recently. I called the vuelve Carolina so we can use our gift and not only was I received with hostility they told me they would call me back. I waited 2 weeks and no call. I decided to send an email and I was told that the certificate was expired and non refundable. I was also told that the experience our friends bought us does not exist and I still see it in their website. The “Jefe de sala” Diego Godia did not want to accommodate us even after I said I could provide proof of hospitalization since October. Usually restaurants of this caliber have great customer service and they are willing to work with you, But he didn’t care his reply was sort and cold. I asked if my friend could be refunded since we were not able to use the gift certificate and he replied “ We are very sorry, but the conditions are written and clear when a gift box is purchased, we cannot return the money.” he didn’t care that I was very ill hospitalized for almost a year, he didn’t care to help, he just didn’t care in general, they didn’t even bother calling me back 2 weeks ago. They got paid and that’s all they care about. I do not recommend a restaurant that does not care about people or their customers, all they care about is your money. I travel the world and have gone to many restaurants and I have never been treated with such indifference. I hope this helps anyone considering eating here or anyone considering of getting their loved ones a gift certificate from...
Read moreThis was on the whole a disappointing experience.
We travelled to Valencia for the day and chose this restaurant for my mums birthday with family because it was mentioned in the Michelin guide - what a mistake…
When we arrived we were told there were no cocktails available which was a huge shame as it was going to be a special lunch for us. Instead my mum ordered a glass of cava which was filled about 2 inches in the glass - we genuinely thought the serving size was a joke.
Whilst some of the dishes were tasty (taco, beef mole), many were disappointing and flavourless. Eg the ceviche had no flavour, the potato fondant with egg yolk were cold, the aubergine was slightly under cooked, the giant cookie was bland and had a cheap tasting/sickly chocolate sauce.
Overall this meal felt very over priced and underwhelming for what it was - you can get far better food in the city for far less money. The service was also let down by the lack of warm hospitality regarding the reduced bar service.
Lastly, we were seated by a cupboard where staff were constantly coming in and out of throughout the meal to get personal items such as scooters which was odd for the kind of restaurant this place is trying to be.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend, and I...
