A small but neat place offering Indian cuisine. Food was good, tasty, value for money and served in warm beautiful looking plates than usual white ones.
My experience otherwise wasn't good at all. I called the number on google maps for a reservation prior to my visit. Informed them while booking that I am visting with 2 kids. As i arrived I was asked if i have an appointment, and was let in. Fair enough. We checked with a waiter if we could use the water for my 2 yr old which he accepted only bcoz its a 2 year old. Thank you and we ordered a bottle of water for the 3 of us. All said and done. Orders placed. Perfect. All goes well
Now, another family was sitting across opened a bottle of water ( not my problem ) but the waiter walked across to us and said, just because we used our bottle of water for the 2 year old, they opened a bottle for their usage and thats not his (waiter's ) responsibility. I dont understand his problem but why should he point it to us? We told him that we saw them have the bottle even before we came and there was no reason why we couldn't use a bottle of water for a 2 year old. I told him politely (he responded the same way) and told him if the other family and him have a problem its their issue and he should sort out with them and not hold us the reason for someone else's senseless behaviour.
He kept saying about the municipal rule to not serve tap water in Spain which i did not know until told and started talking about how tap water is used across England.
It looks to be an issue with the other family and they don't want to be held responsible for it and quickly tried to pass the buck onto us as we were the only family at that time.
In short I felt its an Indian Cuisine hotel not sure if its run by an Indian but sure doesn't welcome Indians. Never Again and dont recommend.
By the way the photos i have attached are to show I called the number shown in google maps and their visiting card photo that was given at the hotel. I was told that their initial reluctance was because they don't have an appointment in my name and I had called Swagat1 and not Swagat2. Okay, maybe you are right, but even your card doesnt say Swagat1 or Swagat2. Updating contact details in Internet is the Job of the owner and not my problem.
Sorry for the above I had to hold the other 3...
Read moreOur friend's son has an apartment nearby and he recommended Swagat 2. We were with two ladies from Gujerat, who are excellent cooks, and their friend from Mauritius, who also knows a thing or two about Asian cuisine. They were soon chatting away to the charming waiters in Hindi (and French) The menu is quite big and you have to look at in your phone, which is a bit fiddly, but we managed! We shared a plate of vegetarian pakoras to start with, which were perfect. My husband declared his mango chicken and peshwari naan superb. The ladies selected a number of vegetarian dishes: cauliflower, potato and aubergine, dahl and various naans and rice. We ordered a bit too much and the garlic naans were packed to go. I had tandoori prawns, there were about eight of them and they came with a delicious tandoori sauce. Delicious kulfis rounded off the meal. We have eaten Indian food everywhere, including in India where I used to live, and this was as good as some of the best and much better than most. It is quite expensive, but that is understandable given the location. We were among the first to arrive at 1.30pm, and the restaurant was full at one point. There are tables outside as well. For me, the friendly and attentive staff were the cherry on top - so often waiting staff in Spain are surly and unwelcoming, but these guys were real...
Read moreWe were staying at the Innside hotel in Valencia and ask the receptionist for a Good Indian restaurant she recommended Swagat and it happened to be just around the corner from our hotel. Turns out they have three branches in Valencia . From the moment we walked up to the restaurant we knew we were gonna be in for a treat. They were not even open yet, but they made sure that we were comfortably seated. Manu was our waiter. This young gentleman never stopped smiling from the time he served us till the very end. He made sure that we got everything we wanted, and on top of that he made us our spicy chutneys . When we ordered the food, he gave us some recommendations and was very accommodating when we asked for extras . Towards the end, another waiter named Fama came up to us and was also super friendly and super accommodating. Needless to say the food at this place was extremely tasty. I would highly recommend any...
