I am writing to formally express my disappointment with the dining experience I had at Peppermint Cafe on 30 July 2024 which was meant to be a special celebration for my mother’s birthday. After eagerly anticipating our visit for the past two years, the experience fell far short of expectations.

Upon arrival, we ordered a club sandwich and a beef burger, hoping to make the occasion memorable. Unfortunately, both dishes were unsatisfactory. The club sandwich was acceptable to a limited extent but suffered from excessively dry bread, compromising its overall quality.

The beef burger, however, was particularly disappointing. It was not only excessively large but also lacked the expected taste appeal. The burger was dry, unheated, and not toasted, leading me to only manage a few bites before finding it inedible. I have attached pictures for your reference.

When I addressed these issues with the staff and requested a reduction in the burger’s charge, the response was unsatisfactory. Although the staff acknowledged the burger’s poor quality, they only offered a 10% discount on the burger priced at 3850, leaving me with a bill of 8157. Given the circumstances, I found this resolution inadequate. I would have been willing to pay a premium for quality food, but the meal did not justify its cost.

I have dined at numerous restaurants in Colombo, and I regret to say that Peppermint Cafe has been the most disappointing. I chose your establishment based on positive reviews but was let down by both the food and the service.

I urge you to review the quality of your offerings and the service standards at your restaurant. It is crucial to provide value for money and meet customer expectations.
