I’ve visited this Vietnamese restaurant multiple times and also tried their food via Uber Eats. One of the highlights for me is their impressive range of teas, especially their matcha drinks. The quality of the matcha is excellent, and they prepare it exceptionally well. There are plenty of places in Colombo that offer matcha, but very few get it right—and this is one of those places. I’d recommend enjoying their hot matcha at the restaurant rather than ordering it for delivery, as the freshness and flavor are much better when served freshly made.
As for the food, it’s a bit of a mixed experience. For example, I ordered Vietnamese Beef Pho and Chicken Pho via Uber Eats. These dishes are supposed to have distinct preparations—beef with a spiced broth and chicken with a lighter stock of ginger and onions. However, the delivered items weren’t labeled, and both dishes had identical soup bases with only the meat differing. It felt like I was left to figure things out myself, and the "sharing items" provided were minimal and the same for both.
One of my favorite dishes is their pork steamed rice rolls. It’s a very soft and delicate dish, but the meat is packed with flavor—definitely worth trying. I also tried their duck noodle soup with bamboo shoots, but the soup base once again tasted the same as other soups and was slightly salty. It’s decent, but I wouldn’t highly recommend it.
They also offer a variety of dry mixed noodles, grilled meats, and bánh mì. They even have hot pot available, including on Uber Eats. While I haven’t tried the hot pot as a delivery option, it’s a good choice if you’re dining at the restaurant.
On another occasion, I tried the grilled beef wrapped in betel leaf, which was so salty that it was inedible. When I mentioned this to the staff, they didn’t offer much feedback, leaving me unsure if the dish was intended to be that way.
I’d like to note that the staff used to be quite attentive and professional, but recently, they’ve become a bit lethargic. You often have to actively seek them out, even when the restaurant isn’t busy. That said, they are still quick to serve the dishes once ordered.
The restaurant itself is small and cozy, with a variety of dishes to explore, from soups and dry noodles to flavorful grilled meats, etc. While the experience has its ups and downs, it’s a decent...
Read moreVisited Pho Vietnam at Rosmead place yesterday. I’ve always loved this place for its unpretentious, wholesome food and it’s a natural choice for me when I want to eat clean. Here’s what we tried. 🥘Bun cha - Grilled fatty pork served over a plate of white rice noodles and an assortment of veggies and greens, this main is very much satisfying in terms of the health factor and also portion size. Loved! 🍜 Vietnamese duck noodle soup with bamboo shoots - while I loved the fact that it comes in a MASSIVE portion, I’d have liked a little more duck in my soup. It had eggs, a variety of veggies and also bamboo shoots and is your bowl of perfect comfort food. Also (and o speak from experience) it is a proven hangover cure! 😉 🧆Grilled beef wrapped in lolot leaf - this was flavorsome and with that dipping sauce, it made the perfect combo. Beef was a bit too chewy to my taste but overall, it was a unique starter 🥗 Vietnamese fresh spring rolls - interestingly, this wasn’t your usual “spring roll”. It was basically shrimp, omlette, grilled pork, noodles and a variety of greens and veggies tied together to be devoured in one go. I loved the fish sauce dip that went along with it 🍵 Matcha latte and the pandan jelly with yogurt - while the match latte was nothing special, I really loved the pandan jelly dessert t which had a dollop of yogurt and a generous serving of condensed milk served over it which was the perfect combo of sweet and sour. This place is a little bit of a gem if you want to eat clean at reasonable prices. I definitely look forward to...
Read moreI live in Vancouver, Canada and tried this restaurant as it was just oppsit the B&B I stayed during my visit to Colombo. We have tried lots of Vietnamese restaurants back in Vancouver so we kind of had high hopes about this place specially after reading all the glowing reviews here.. But our experience was totally different.
The juice was so bad. I ordered Mango juice and it was just yellow water, not cold and barely tasted like mango. The food - they completely forgot our morning glory dish! When we asked about it the server had no clue. Then we cancelled it. When we reviewed the bill it was added and then deducted. So it’s good proof they forgot about it. Chicken dish was mostly contained of skin and not meat. The other dishes arrived at random order and took very long (at the time of our visit the restaurant was less than half full - so they were not super busy). So there was no way for us to properly enjoy the meal. Food wasn't expensive, but honestly for this price we could’ve eaten a very good meal in Vancouver which supposed to be one of the most expensive cities in the world.
The ambiance was good and the staff member who took our order was very friendly and pleasant - but the lady who brought food to out table was very grumpy and did not make eye contact or did not interact at all! They failed to deliver a pleasant experience for us.
I will not recommend this restaurant if you have tasted proper Vietnamese food, you will certainly be...
