I vistied jetwing colombo 7 Rooftop ( ward 7 ) for the afternoon tea with my two friends & had the most irritating experience from the staff ! I was there from 3pm till 7:30pm. First 3 hours my two friends & i enjoyed our time and later was joined by my brothers. When I first when to drop one of my friends to the lobby, i informed one staff that I’ll be right back cause I left all our belongings at the table ! At the same time another staff ( second server ) came up to me offering me the bill & I clearly told him to bring the bill later as I’m not leaving just yet ! Second time when I was going to drop my other friend again this person came near to the elevator and asked if he can bring the bill with a worried face & I said no ! Also I informed another staff to tell him again that I’m not leaving as my brothers were already at the table & wanted to Oder some more drinks. Just when I reached the lobby with my friend I get a call from my brother saying that the staff gave him the bill & was told the balance was not settled. When I went back & asked the same server why did he offer the bill when I clearly said no he said to me in a rude tone that it was not his own decision ! I told him that it’s annoying & asked him to inform the manager to come. He said okay but no one came. Had to ask for a second time then the manager came. At this time i already checked the bill and the bill was made wrong as well cz they had added the advance payment of 4500/= I made few days before when i was making the reservation , instead of deducting it from the bill ! That also I had to tell the manager and thankgod i checked otherwise they would punch 10,450/= from my card instead of 5950/=. After that ,they made a note on the bill and deducted the correct amount ! This is what i told the manager ; it is not your job to come and ask whether you can bring a customers bill. It is the customers wish to ask for the bill whenever they want to. The server kept on saying shall I bring the bill 3 times ! As if I’m running away or as if he wants me to leave ! I have often visited jetwing and this was the most annoying thing that has happened to me. Since the moment i was there, they didn’t deliver a good service. The first server gave Me & my friends a single glass of water instead of 3 , & I had to ask for two more again. While I was asking for water I informed that we will take the food later but he served us the platter anyways and when I asked why ? he said we serve the platter right after the customer comes and that’s why. I asked him to bring it later he informed that it’ll go cold and I said it’s okay cz we we’re full from lunch & didn’t want to stuff ourselves. It is not my mistake that he didn’t pay attention & mainly the fact he served it without our consent. Isn’t it part of your job ? During the whole bill incident the manager apologized but I have a feeling he was involved in sending the second server to give me the bill cz I saw them talking when I said no the second time. This is not acceptable ! You should be accommodating towards your customers , not make them feel like you don’t want to have them there. The Manager told me it’s a miscommunication! But I see it as lack of paying attention & poor customer service ! I Also informed the manager that I don’t need sorry from anyone & to let them know that it was wrong. He told me that the second server was from a different department so maybe he doesn’t know what he did ! This type of behavior is a black mark for jetwing ! I stayed here with my family both at the beginning and end of our almost month long holiday in Sri Lanka. It was such a nice way to relax both after a long flight and after travelling around the country to experience Colombo before heading home.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone, no matter what kind of trip it may be - solo traveller, family, couple, business etc. The location is ideal - you are in a part of the city that has easy access to many well known areas in Colombo and have many prominent shops, restaurants and cafés at your fingertips. The front of house team are super friendly, always happy to advise you on anything, arrange transport for your etc. Everything that we needed assistance with was handled elegantly and smoothly.
Our room - deluxe suite, triple room was spacious, comfortable with floor to ceiling windows. It was clean & luxurious throughout with luxury amenities, TV, AC and mini-bar too to name a few.
What we found most impressive was the 5* hospitality we received from the staff at the front entrance, to the reception team, the restaurant & bar areas, the room service team, housekeeping team and the ladies at the spa. They are all a true asset to the company and deserve the praise for the attention to detail, genuine warm and caring attitude at all times. No task was too much for any of them!
The restaurant on the ground floor is outstanding. We experienced breakfast, lunch and dinner there throughout our stay. From local recipes to western ones, there was something for everyone. The breakfast buffet was exceptional and had an array of options - both Sri Lankan and international. There was a bread and pastry stall, fruits, cereal and muesli, hot food (including your typical western cooked breakfast options), an omlette, pancake and waffle station. Good options for those with dietary requirements also - I have non dairy milk especially for coffee/tea and they were happily able to provide soya milk for this.
I also would highly recommend the spa - which I attended and my family did also. Well worth the packages we chose which included the colombo seven spa ritual package (couple) and separately the 60 minute balinese massage and ayurvedic head massage. The spa therapists are extremely kind, considerate and professional.
The infinity pool & bar is such a pleasant place to spend some time taking in the bustling city’s view. They have a great beverage and food menu as an alternative to the restaurant. The rooftop bar has almost panoramic views across the Colombo skyline with an idyllic azure blue infinity pool to dip into. A great backdrop for any kind of visit and company.
The gym is also well maintained, well kit out , includes AC and is of a great size. Great set of equipment from dumbbells to squat racks, cable machines and so on.
I must make a special mention to Pathun in the housekeeping who was so meticulous in his work. He was so pleasant, kind and hardworking - nothing was too much for him; above and beyond in his capabilities and customer service skills. He was very thoughtful and considerate towards our needs during our stay and deserves a special recognition.
Also we would like to mention Dumini at Ward7 and also to Ravindu on room service. Truly a 5 star service - we look forward to our next stay...
