Summary: not as vegan friendly compared to last year. Hit or miss and overpriced food (see other reviews) but otherwise great service and atmosphere.
If you’re a tourist and hungry at 9am, you’d be hard pressed to find a decent brunch spot in central Gothenburg besides here. Brunchoteket has claimed a favorable positioning with its attractive atmosphere and great service, but the food can be hit or miss unfortunately.
I have been to this Gothenburg location twice now (once the prior year) and I am sad to see that scrambled tofu is no longer offered. I opted for the backup avocado toast (minus the eggs) and the quality of avocado was not great, let alone the presentation of the dish itself was depressing (toast, rocket, scoop of sad avocado). I give props to the service because they were helpful and understanding.
If you’re vegetarian or have no diet restrictions, you’ll be at least okay, granted they don’t undercook the egg or overcook the bacon (see other reviews).
I believe 2/5 stars is...
Read moreVery disappointing brunch at Brunchoteket!
Known (usually) for its delicious menu and more than decent portion size we were served with visually unappealing, tasteless and undersized meals.
The chef and waitress must have taken one look at the burnt bacon and thought “hmm, this looks delightful…the customer will love it! They’ve been waiting in line for 30 mins…surely they should be grateful they’re even being served food!”
I showed photos of previous meals to the waitress (who did apologize and spoke to the manager) and the ones we had today.
The manger didn’t make any effort to talk to me but asked the waitress to check if I had paid the bill…and I had done that already.
For the record even if I was given a discount or a free meal the 1 star rating would not have changed.
For that Brunchoteket have to work on their food - taste, presentation and serving size. If they get these 3 right customers might grumble about overpriced dishes but will walk away with a happy belly and...
Read moreSo before coming to this city we asked our friends to suggest places to visit/eat. None of them mentioned Brunchoteket, so now I have an excuse to walk up to each of my friends and slap them with "why did you not tell me about this amazing place!?" Probably the best "American pancakes" I've had since moving to Sweden. Yummy! I was also surprised to see Chicken & Waffles (a favourite of mine) Alright but here's the catch: no breakfast teas on the menu! Only that flowery Earl Grey stuff that freaks my cat out whenever I brew it at home. Some black breakfast tea would have made this a 6 star review (yes I'd need to hack Google reviews to add a sixth star) Note for nut allergies: they throw tree nuts onto all sorts of things so if you're the only anti nut in your party maybe write "no nuts" for all your friends' orders so you can try what they're eating, it's...
