Jinx Dynasty — Restaurant in Göteborgs Stad

The baos I’ve had so far have always lacked something, bread been a bit stale, the meat lacks flavor, or the other auxiliary things have been a flop.

I will say that Jinx Dynasty just nails every damn component of the bao. I came in with really high expectations of this restaurant, and I will easily say it exceeded my expectations by far. Everything from how perfect the pork is cooked making it the most succulent piece of pork I’ve had, to the sauce it’s wrapped in, to how fluffy and soft that cloud bun is, just makes every component of this bao feel like it’s gonna be hard to ever match this. I just personally wanted a little more of a kick, but they leave you with some sriracha to get your own spice level.

My partner also got the loaded fries and honestly I was expecting that to be a bust, I always disliked loaded fries because I think the sauce always make the fries a little soggy too quickly… but we got the Mayo on the side, and I was pretty shocked to find out that even with the other sauces, the layer of greens they put between the fries and sauce act like rain protection from the sauce and keep the fries crispy. In addition to this, having that incredibly flavorful pork mince on top was just a flavor dream along with the fries. I had already become full from my three baos and it pained me that I...

The place is cosy and located in a nice passage in central Gothenburg. I was looking forward to trying the food and visited with a friend at lunch time. We both ,however, were disappointed. The service was hasty. I understand that in rush of lunch hours the personnel may get stressed out but in our case it was only the two of us and two more people in the line behind us. So I can't rationalize the way we were greeted, quickly and hastily...almost stressing us to decide, pay, and move away... They only offered one dish for lunch, some sort of Asian salad with two options: vegetarian or pork. We got the pork. When we received the dish, both looking for "the meat" ... no instances ... apparently they had used just a bit of minced pork and already mixed it with part of the rice. The ingredients were unimpressive: mostly white rice, two spoons of mayonnaise, some cucumber, some carrot. The only positive was the fresh herb garnish. The meat was almost unmentionable. For that price (105 sek at lunch time plus no coffee included) I expected much...

First of all, the food here is absolutely amazing. Their bao buns are hands down the best I've had, anywhere. I happen to really like bao buns and so they are naturally what I tend to get if a restaurant has them. Because of that I've tried a whole lot of them. Jinx does them at least a level above the next best option.

Their menu is very limited which I actually like a lot. I'd rather see a few dishes done to perfection than a whole bunch done adequately.

Now, the place itself is very small, cramped and all table surfaces have this sticky kind of beer hall feeling to them. It can also get very loud inside.

Their selection of beers have been kind of disappointing to be honest. I still haven't found one I really enjoyed. And I like beer.

Service is...serviceable.

However, again, the food! I come here at least twice a month just for the bao buns. If I only considered the food as part of my review it would be the easiest 5...
