I visited this place to satisfy my fried chicken craving. I ordered the butter milk chicken and Korean chicken sando. I was slightly disappointed that the Korean chicken sando wasn't covered in gochujang and wasn't half as spicy. It was in kimchi mayo instead, which I think is an inferior to the gochujang sauce for traditional fried chicken.
That said, the fried chicken was very well executed. The batter was so thin yet crispy. The meat cut was chicken breast. I didn't know that fried chicken breast can taste this good (and less guilt-free) without skin. The two sauces that came with the butter milk have been localised - a dill cream favour and a slightly tangy water sauce.
The draft beer selection is pretty average to be called a draft beer bar. We ordered the West Coast IPA. You can find the same selection at Systembolaget with the exception of their house beer. Their house beer was also a lager. A decent house draft beer selection should include an IPA, white beer and at least a specialty beer like a sour or stout and drinks on tap..
Please consider expanding your house draft beer selection and exclusive beers on tap and offer spicy-loving customers the sauce options of traditional gochujang or spicy versions of what's...
Read moreHad an incredible time at Bird. Went with my wife on the last day of vacation after a week in Stockholm and Oslo.
The food was incredible. Wife had their fried chicken, which was all boneless meat and served with two very tasty sauces. I had their fried chicken parmesan burger, which was out of this world delicious. We also shared Mac and Cheese, which was made with truffle oil and was so good, that we ordered a second plate. Also had their peanut butter wings, which also had a great sauce and great quality wings.
They also had some very good beers that were locally produced and delicious. You couldn't beat the price. All the food was tremendous value for the money. Mains were 140 SEK, sides 60 SEK, beers ~70-80 SEK. Service was outstanding. Sure, the venue is small, seating about 20-25 people with communal seating, but to me, it only adds to the allure of the establishment.
The only thing I don't like about Bird is that is isn't located in my own hometown. The menu had so many incredible options from top to bottom that I really want to eat there again and again. Definitely one of my favourite dinners in quite some time and I could not give this place any higher of recommendation....
Read moreReally good menu with tasty comfort food, everything we tried was well seasoned and came with good sauces. The buttermilk fried chicken did not disappoint, the best fried chicken I remember having in a Stockholm restaurant. Beer selection is nice but it would be great to have more different beers on tap. No five stars because the main dish portions are small compared to the price, especially when you consider that they come without sides and all sides are all...
