25th of January. The concert house. My first time at a concert. I leaned back in the comfortable chair, closed my eyes, tried to lower my shoulders, and dreamed away to a fantasyland. Notes that danced, were recreated by other instruments. Which were intertwined. I flew to other places. I saw streams, meadows, gently swaying leaves, beautifully dressed people, dancing or having a picnic on a summer-warm hill. I saw the fox hunting and the deer running away in the clearing.
When I opened my eyes, I saw the conductor's gentle dialogue with the orchestra. Glances, hints, the interaction.
The pianist, Lise de la Salle, was so fabulously good. She played so that the fantasyland was created, and the little elves danced by the side of the stream. The applause did not want to end. She sat down at the piano again, started talking to us. She talks about the unrest in the world and about peace on earth. And then everyone in the hall is silent. Calm, cautious notes reverberate in the air. As cautious and fragile as newfound friendship between two enemies. The silence....which is broken by...

The Stockholm Concert Hall (Swedish: Stockholms konserthus) is the main hall for orchestral music in Stockholm, Sweden. With a design by Ivar Tengbom chosen in competition, inaugurated in 1926, the Hall is home to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. It is also where the awarding ceremonies for the Nobel Prize and the Polar Music Prize are held annually. The interior includes work by Ewald Dahlskog, and the walls and ceiling in the minor hall, now known as Grünewald Hall, were painted by Isaac Grünewald. The exterior is the site of sculptor Carl Milles' 1936 bronze fountain, the Orfeus-brunnen ("the Orpheus Well").

Read moreOne of Stockholm’s most stunning buildings. Its inside is very relaxed which allows all kinds of people to feel at home in what has been an historically snobbish domain. I can’t speak for the entire concert schedule, but what I have seen has been extraordinary. They also offer concert series where individual concerts of a combined theme are put into packages and the packages are available for a total sum which drastically reduces the cost of...
