Finally I got to socker sucker. The fika was, of course, fantastic, beautiful and tasty. But the rest of the experience was less pleasant. I was greeted by a long line and waited for over fifteen minutes to even ask what flavor each pastry has. As there are no signs with names of pastry, ingredients or price, it causes long queues because customers can't think about what they want because of course they don't know what's on offer. I heard several people complain about it in the queue. I brought it up with the staff and said that it feels awkward to have to wait so long to even ask about buns and got the answer that it's their "style and that they're tired of QR codes and that they think it's cozy. That idea is that clients listen to other clients asking about the buns and should listen to the answers ". What if some of your clients don’t talk Swedish and what is some clients are deaf and have to see the ingredients? The cafe feels not accessible for everyone. When I said that I and several customers found it less cozy and just stressful, they did not respond. Then I think it's a little disrespectful of cafes not to display the prices. I have no problem spending SEK 200 on a fika, but there are people who want to treat themselves with socker suckers fine pastries but have a limited budget. I can imagine that it is difficult for them to know the prices just at the cashier or to ask about prices in the queue and thus annoy the queue behind. I can't give more stars because of their attitude and...
Read moreCame here on two separate occasions. One on Saturday and another on Friday late afternoon. Had a really good time on my first visit. A lot of selections and pastries available to choose from, spacious and managed to get a seat. Second time on a Friday was too crowded and the cafe ran out of pastries so I ordered the same semla again. Customers were hoarding the seats and tables even tho there were no handbags or belongings reserving the table/seats and got angry when I sat down. I think it was rude to expect people to not sit on it if the seats are not reserved in any way. With limited seats on a late Friday afternoon, I'd suggest it's best for the cafe to put up a sign or interfere when this happens. One group of customers have already taken two-three tables but still expecting other customers to not sit on the empty table beside them and the table behind them. It's so rude. Apart from that, I'd still visit but things like this should be improved...
Read moreSo SEK 202 (£17) for 2 pastries and 2 cappuccinos. That's top end for Sweden and perhaps 20pc more than you'd pay in London. But...sometimes you do get what you pay for. They all looked pristine in the counter display and worryingly most had fillings.
The pastry itself cut be cut through cleanly with a knife so it was fresh, not too doughy, crisp but not too crispy. The one we had with filling was the star of the show. The cream was not over processed or sweet as it often is, it was calm and smooth and perfectly balanced against th.e fresh strawberry jam which was the same, light, smooth, but too sweet. It was all pretty clinical, but sometimes that's cool.
Oh, and the coffee...
