Staff are very friendly and passionate about the food they offer. They have an interesting and exciting selection of chocolates, as well as fresh pastries.
While the ingredients in the food may seem rather pedestrian, the flavors come together beautifully. We came here twice during our trip and tried all of the sandwiches as well as a spring quiche and some fish free tacos. All the dishes came with a beautiful side salad with an amazing dressing.
NYC deli sandwich: Deliciously crisp and bold flavors while not feeling too heavy. My brother usually hates pickles but he ate them on his sandwich without minding them.
Chicken teriyaki: Least favorite of the bunch, still delicious but not quite what we expected. Very fresh flavors from the cucumber and bean sprouts, but the teriyaki sauce didn't stay in the wrap well
Tex-Mex Breakfast burrito: Seasoned and balanced well, the tofu scramble inside was absolutely scrumptious!
Walnut Pesto: Best of the sandwiches! Very flavorful and warm, yet fresh at the same time. It was sold out the first time we came, and so we made sure to come back earlier in the day on our second visit.
Spring Quiche: While this one didnt eat quite like a quiche, the pastry was delicious and all the vegetables paired together well. This one was served with a side salad as well as an amazing potato salad. The potato salad is light on the mayonnaise and the potatoes are cooked just perfectly enough to have some texture but still be soft.
Fish tacos: We are visiting from somewhere with much more authentic Hispanic flavors than here in Stockholm, so expectations for this one were a little different. While this one looked very different than most tacos I've had back home, the flavors were all there. Only thing I have to say is that the tortilla wasn't great, but I imagine it's harder to come across a fresh corn tortilla here.
I think they rotate through a lot of different pastries but the ones we tried were all great! (Raspberry licorice brownie was our favorite, but the raspberry vanilla sponge cake, and the biscotti cheesecake were also great)
If you're looking for a good healthy vegan bite in Stockholm; go to Kafé Plattan! It's in a very convenient location (just hard to find as it's below ground level) with...
Read moreVery poor service. Had a half-a-day layover in Stockholm, and went to this place with a toddler, planning to have some snack, as the menu seemed vegan friendly, the location was great while visiting kulturhuset and it had been recommended.
My spouse thought they had a table service, as he is not European, thus didn’t know the cafés here often have not. As he had already been waiting for a while before I arrived, I guessed maybe you have to make and order on the cashier and went there to do it.
The person working there didn’t make any sort of effort to notice me, didn’t respond to my ”hi” even though she clearly saw me, and didn’t ask for what I wanted.
I thought that ok, a bit rude, but maybe she is not ready to take the order as she was putting away the dishes the same time, so I thought that I’d let her finnish what she was doing and make the order when she was ready.
Went to the table to wait, and soon the very same waitress came to us saying ”I noticed you have been here for a while without ordering anything, this place is for the paying customers so if you don’t order anything, you have to leave”.
Not sure if this is a cultural thing and if this kind of super-rude communication is a norm in a customer service setting here, or if they just assume that as tourists we just want to use their chairs for free, but didn’t feel very welcomed, so we left without ordering and can’t...
Read moreI adore this café! I can’t believe I only found out about this place last year. This has now become my go to place when I want to fika. They have some the best buns in Stockholm, hands down. You can also buy the plant-based steak from Juicy Marbles here (to cook at home). I highly recommend that one.
I love that they do different seasonal semla buns. They do the regular ones during the semla season of course but they also do one with strawberries in the whipped cream during midsummer, an apple pie one during autumn last year (this autumn they had a STUNNING cinnamon bun semla) and then they even do a saffron semla in December.
I’ve recommended this place to so many people that I feel like I should be sponsored by them 😂 The absolute best thing on their menu is their semla, so please try to go there when they have it.
I sound like a crazed semla fanatic but I didn’t even like semla buns when I was growing up (before going vegan), so I’m simply very impressed that they’ve made me like semlor...
