DiWine was a lovely place. I'm an American visiting Stockholm with my husband whose family is from Sweden. We went into town in the evening to look for a nice, cozy place, willing to spend a bit more money, for a dinner date. We just decided to walk down Gamlestan and choose a place that looked best. We looked at all the dinner places that were just right off the main road and decided on DiWine based off of their menu. I ordered the Alfredo and my husband got fish and chips. They brought us bread as a free appetizer and the food was yummy. The atmosphere was cozy with the fires, except the music didn't really match the ambiance. We went on a Tuesday night, so it wasn't extremely busy. After about 40 minutes our food hadn't come, and we weren't sure of the precedent for how long food is supposed to take in Stockholm. We noticed other people had been waiting for food, but they were also drinking whereas we were not, and we had no way of knowing if they had ordered food or not. We hadn't seen our waiter since we ordered so we asked a random waiter what time we could expect our food and it turns out that whomever our waiter was forgot to order it and then had literally left the restaurant. I'm not sure how that works, but it doesn't work like that in America. I guess his shift had ended or something? So no one was taking care of us anymore. The manager did come and apologize, and we weren't upset. They were nice. However, in any experience I've had in America, they give you a discount on the meal or something for free when something like that happens. I mean come on, 40 minutes. They had the meal out in 10 minutes, which is nice. But I was a bit disappointed that an apology was all we got. Perhaps that's entitlement, but I'm just basing it off of my other experiences. I'm glad we went to DiWine, and I wouldn't change it. However, if we went back to Stockholm I would try...
Read moreWe were greeted and seated. The floor was covered in a liquid so the host got a mop and cleaned it up. It smelled SO BAD. I think the mop was dirty or something. It's all I smelled the whole time.
I ordered the "American Buffalo Wings". Let me tell you, I am from America and I eat my fair share of wings. These wings did not have buffalo sauce. I would expect that buffalo wings would have buffalo sauce? In fact, the wings had no sauce on them. Instead they are served with a side of BBQ sauce. So these were Baked Wings with a side of BBQ sauce. They were also served with chili aoili, which was fairly flavorless and had a hair in it. It was also served with mixed greens.... With no dressing. It had a lemon so I think they expected to just put lemon on it. I also ordered a drink but it tasted like juice.
My wife ordered pasta with salmon, and it wasn't terrible but nothing to write home about.
For some reason it was hot as hell in there. We were sweating, even though we're not normally sweaty people. Very uncomfortable.
The service was good, they were very friendly.
I would not go back and would advise you go...
Read moreThe place looked decent from the outside, so we decided to have dinner there. When we ordered our food, we explicitly told the waiter how the dish for my wife has to be prepared, as she was pregnant at the time and had to adhere to very strict dietary restrictions. We explained in a vet simple way but explicitly, that my wife wants ONLY cooked chicken, cooked mashed potatoes and cooked vegetables on her plate. Nothing else - and especially nothing raw, like salad, herbs etc. The waiter repeated what we told him. He even asked the kitchen if that simple dish preparation is possible, which gave us a good feeling. He even assured us that our request is possible. It's not that complicated to prepare anyway...
However, when the food arrived, it was NOT as we asked for. There was salad all over the cooked chicken and the grilled vegetables were missing. We were very upset and had to argue with the staff. They were not very helpful or understanding. We left as fast as possible. If you have food restrictions or care for friendly and competent service, that's 1000% NOT the right...
