First in Sweden, a group of four tourists checked the Google reviews and found this restaurant.
As not everyone felt hungry, two of them decided to order takeout to share. When we got a seat at the bar-like curved table for five, I asked the staff or owner if we could order food for takeout, and he said yes. When we were ready to order, the staff passed me, so I told him we were ready to order, but he just ignored me without an answer.
Then, at the counter, he called me to place an order. What a customer unfriendly efficient system! One of us had to go to the counter and order 15 pieces of sushi (salmon and tuna). Then, he asked me twice what about the others, quite hostilely. I answered that's all. After paying at the counter, I returned to my seat, and he asked me to clear the seat for other guests. The entrance was crowded.
Luckily, it didn't take too long, but when the order was ready, I asked if soybean sauce was served on the side. Again, he didn't say anything, just nodded.
I understand it was a crowded Sunday night, and it might have been busy, with the staff expecting four separate orders and needing to prepare seats for dine-in customers. But whatever the case, the owner or staff's behavior didn't seem professional, especially in communication with customers. Definitely not friendly or kind but hostile. Other group members also felt the same.
So, here's the lesson I learned today: Beware if you want to order takeout from here. Better ask the staff if we can have a seat for takeout and inquire if we are able to order only for one or two people out of four. Don't expect to receive an order at the seat, but be ready to order at the counter when the staff is available.
I hope the owner can establish clear service rules for takeout customers and inform them in advance not to expect the same hospitality as dine-in customers, even though the prices are the same. I don't think any customer wants to be served with this full of rudeness.
Updated with feedback) Still, you didn't get the point. I fully understand the limited space rule for take-out order. If so, it could be explained to customers with manners without ignoring or hostile attitude. It is rather lack of service mind or basic attitude for communication. I found several other's reviews who had the same issues with staff's arrogant attitude. Is this also cultural difference? I doubt it. I feel sorry staff's attitude simply deteriorates the reputation of...
Read moreSaya sushi was a bit of surprise for me, the outside is not a good representation of the inside - the inside is much nicer.
The inside is on the smaller side, which can make you feel squeezed in depending where you end up getting a seat. The design of the place however is nice.
The food was good, I was really happy about my sushi. The fish, vegetables and rice were really nice, but the seaweed inside was too chewy which took down the overall experience of the food. The bento was good, but nothing out of the ordinary.
The service was lovely! The staff was really friendly, respectful and nice.
One of the downsides for me was also the bathroom. There was no hook to hang your coat/bag on and there was no paper towels in the machine. Did not seem like they regularly made sure it was clean/up to shape, which is a minus on my list.
I can see myself going here again and hope that my minus points was just a one-off. The staff really made a big difference in the...
Read moreI typically like this restaurant but when eating here yesterday the service and communication was very poor and I am taking out my frustrations writing this review.
I was in a party of 5 and one of us ordered a 5 piece roll. When she was served a 10 piece roll the server tried to pressure so to take it anyway, which we obviously refused. He then took it away and reserved it as 5 pieces (I assume he discarded the remaining 5 out of pettiness). This was an unpleasant & childish interaction and it soured my experience there.
Later when we went to pay the bill hadn't been adjusted for the 5 piece roll, which is extra negligent on their part, and we had to insist to have it changed.
The seared salmon is good tho.
Edit: The restaurant responded to my review and then deleted the response, which is again very annoying and very...
