My wife that is from Japan had heard about this restaurant on social media before it was visible on Google Maps.
We decided to go because we were feeling for some authentic Japanese food.
We where a party of 3 and took seating at the counter for 4 people.
There was a small table for 2 also on the other side in the restaurant. The establishment is small but that is just reminiscent of how ramen restaurants in Japan usually are.
The owner was from Gifu, very polite and spoke to us in Japanese when he noticed we spoke the language.
The food was great, it was actually my first time eating dry tantanmen, there was instructions printed on the wall how to enjoy the dish. We tried the classic bowl with pork mince meat and an onigiri (rice ball) side. You put it in after the noodles are eaten to savour the flavour of the soup/sauce.
We also shared one glass of the home made cola, it was refreshing and unique in a good way.
My wife talked a bit to the owner and heard there is a possibility that the meny will grow even more in the near future!
We are excited to come again, next time we'll try the duck or the next new thing that makes it to the...
Read moreI came across this restaurant through a social media post and decided to give it a try. Since it’s owned by a Japanese couple, I had pretty high expectations, and I’m happy to say it didn’t disappoint. I ordered the dry tan tan noodles with roasted duck slices. The noodles were really good, fresh and perfectly cooked. The sauce was the star for me. It had just the right balance, not too light and not overly rich, just enough to coat the noodles nicely. I ended up slurping the whole bowl clean. The spice level is definitely up there. I enjoyed it, but I think it could be a bit much for some Swedish folks. Of course, I know plenty of locals who love spicy food, but just putting it out there in case you're sensitive to heat. I’ve never been to Japan, but I’m a big fan of tan tan ramen, especially the Chinese-style ones, and this version had that authentic flavor I was hoping for. Both owners were super welcoming. One of them came over to check how everything was, and I told them it was really good. I genuinely hope their business thrives. So many great Asian spots don’t get the recognition they deserve, and this one...
Read moreOne feature I love about tan tan ramen is its creamy, nutty soup. At Tan Tan Dan, the combination of flavors and the balance between the toppings, noodles, and soup really stand out. The aroma is a delightful mix of nuttiness and savoriness, with a hint of Sichuan pepper. I appreciate that they don't overwhelm the dish with too much soup; there's just enough to enhance the flavor of the noodles. I always order it with eggs, which are among the best I’ve ever had. After finishing the noodles, I sometimes add onigiri to the remaining soup, and it truly adds a nice finishing touch to the whole experience.
The restaurant has around five seats, so be prepared to wait a bit before getting a seat. However, they also offer delivery. I sometimes order it through delivery, and the noodles still taste amazing. They separate the noodles and soup to prevent sogginess, and you just need to reheat it for 30 seconds in the microwave.
It's my favorite tan tan...
