A fantastic night out in Basel! We had a great time at a fun, food adventurous place. I loved all the different dishes. The staff (servers and the chef🤯) we friendly courteous and just fun to hang with. The couple that sat next to us were also first timers (but local) and just stopped in for a good meal. We all had a blast. The table that joined the conversation at the end of the bill and shard Limoncello shots were great as well. While the company and atmosphere were great…the food was even better. I tried it all (even the eggplant) and while I personally am not a fan of eggplant, the chef was beyond accommodating to create a meal I would enjoy. The anti pasta dishes were good, but the pasta dishes were amazing. Not to reveal too much (because honestly you should give it a try) the ravioli was perfection. Followed by the pasta with salmon or if you’re not a fan of fish (like my sis in law) you may be served the pasta Ragu. Either way you are not leaving this place hungry! So please if you are in Basel, add this place to you must eat list. Oh and did I mention how well the house white wine (yes, you read that correctly, I said HOUSE WHITE) paired well with...
Read moreWe had a terrible evening for our first visit to this restaurant … a table of guest kept talking very loudly all the night (literally screaming) and was clearly drunk. When we asked to the staff to do something since we were not even able to talk each other for the noise the answer was “we asked to reduce the noise but they are regulars and come every week so you have to accept it” … this was unacceptable as answer from the staff! In addition despite the owner was aware of our unpleasant evening didn’t think about offering anything to “excuse” himself (unorthodox decision for an Italian restaurant) On the food (comment from an Italian): no big highs and many lows … starters were very minimalistic with nothing special (some cheese, bresaola etc… budget choices) and pasta was normal with tiny portions … menu was fix so NO POSSIBILITY TO CHOOSE ANYTHING!! … for what we payed (100 chf each for very limited average food, 2 glasses of wine, 2 spritz and 1 coffee) I can confidently recommend to skip this place … and this comment comes from a foodie that has been eating in a lot of restaurants in and outside Switzerland Italy is not this...
Read moreLimited menu options at lunch. Pasta came with very little protein of choice. I ordered chicken and there were only very few bits of chicken in the dish. The lady server that served us was alright but the man that served us (not sure if he’s the owner), was quite rude. 1. When I ordered tap water for a start, he gave a displeased look. 2. When my husband asked for some milk to go with Americano, he gave just packet cream even though there was fresh milk available. This was shocking as most cafes would pour out a small portion of milk for customers. 3. We had our dog with us and while we were still trying to settle into our seats and for our dog to find a spot to lie down, he signaled to us to please keep the dog inside. In all the restaurants we’ve been to with our dog, this was the only one where we felt so unwelcomed. The rest of the time we were there, my dog was quietly under the table and you would not even know a dog was there. Ambience is cosy, coffee is also good, but I would rate the food a 3 and the service a 1. The overall rating of 4.7...
