we were so excited to try the cheese fondue here! this place was recommended by a friend who stays in bern. i tried to do a reservation on the website for dinner on 23 december, but unfortunately it was fully booked. however, when i called in, the lovely staff, upon hearing we only have 2 people, told me to just come down! and so we did!
we were seated very promptly and served with the nicest staff (i didn’t get their names, but two nice waiters - one from sri lanka and one from uzbekistan). i was visibly excited to try the fondue and the staff noticed that and struck up a conversation about it! they were also very kind enough to give us free water as well, since we don’t drink alcohol.
we had the truffle cheese fondue and the raclette rosti with bacon. both were delicious and so so cheesy! the rosti was amazing and we could taste the individual pieces of potato and the melted raclette over it was delicious. the cheese fondue was everything i dreamed of, with portions so huge we were left stuffed.
the staff that served us on that day itself were nothing short of amazing. and while i would have loved to leave a tip, we are unfortunately travelling on a tight budget. we talked to the two staff that served us and realised they were not originally from bern. nonetheless, i’m leaving a fantastic review for the service of the staff as well as the amazing food! please help to convey our thanks to them yet again. 🇨🇭❤️
will be back, if i’m ever in bern again!

Read moreI had quite the fondue experience at this place. The fondue was surprisingly unique with a grainy texture at the end, reminiscent of bechamel sauce, which is quite unusual for a fondue. The bread served with it wasn't as fresh as I would have liked. I cannot say that it was the best fondue I had.
What really puts me off about this place, though, are the waiters. They must have attended the school of rudeness. Interestingly, most of them are of Asian descent, including Bengali's and Indians. I couldn't help but notice that they were especially rude and unfriendly to fellow Asian or brown customers. It was a real show, witnessing their extraordinary dedication to catering to the white hipster-looking customers, almost as if their entire country's history was flowing through their veins. And then, there's a cast of characters that appear to be of Eastern European origin. They seem to serve everyone with a consistent mediocrity that's almost impressive in its own right.
In all seriousness, I'd hesitate to visit this place again solely because of the service. It's a shame because the food had potential, but the waitstaff's behavior just ruined the...
Read moreThe food was okay, especially the Toblerone warm cake. But I am giving a low rating because of the waiter, who literally lied and coerced me into tipping: when I asked for the bill and to pay by card, he insisted two times on the button to add tip and stayed uncomfortably close to me. I asked him if the service was included on the price, he dared to say no, as if I was some sort of non-EU citizen and I didn’t know how Switzerland works. I left 3CHF out of obligation and not to be confrontational, but it feels horrible that someone can be so unprofessional and greedy. It ruined the whole experience.
EDIT: Sir, for your own clarification: you are in Europe. Don't try to play a "clever come back", because despite not being member of European Union you are in Europe, and here we have waiters with affordable wages. When I mention non-EU, I literally refer to Americans, Asians and people with tipping culture. Don't make a fool of yourself and at least acknowledge that you or your waiters push for the tip. And I insist: he literally said "the service is not included" when I asked. Losing another start to your lack of...
