McCarthy's Irish Pub — Restaurant in Bern

Visited Mccarthy in Bern today. Excellent venue, lovingly redeveloped by Mark, the owner, and his team a year or so ago. Excellent food and brilliant, friendly, efficient service. I have to admit, I'm a bit of a pie connoisseur and the beef and guiness pie here is off the charts. It is a definite 11 out of 10 as was all the food enjoyed by myself and my family. It is also child friendly as a high chair was provided, upon request, for our very young grandaughter. Suffice to say, if you are in Bern, you would be a fool to give it a miss. What really struck me about this pub was the quality of the service. The food was delicious (I highly recommend the steak and Guiness pie) and the atmosphere was welcoming and enjoyable. Two weeks later, though, what I keep remembering is how warm, thoughtful, and attentive all the staff were. It felt as if the whole crew was personally committed to us having a most excellent night out. This bar / restaurant has opend since I was last in Bern in Feb 2020. It is great fun, with an enjoyable atmosphere, and an extensive range of draught and bottled beers. Both the beer and dining menus are via QR code, the there is free Wi-Fi for patrons. My visit was in May, and there is an outside drinking / dining option which is both well served and very pleasant in the long warm late spring evenings in Bern.
