NAMASTE INDIA CITY — Restaurant in Bern

located in the central area of berna the room, very large, is colorful and welcoming. there is an internal room and a very pleasant outdoor area. the menu is quite varied and the food is of good quality. fast and precise service although it would be advisable to explain, perhaps even briefly, the particularities of the courses, given that there is a risk of ordering rice as a side dish when in fact some dishes already provide it as a basis for the various meats or alternatives vegetarian. the price is high, especially the drinks, a French family sitting next to us asked very directly if those prices were really correct and if it was normal for the water to be so expensive...and actually I also had my reasonable doubts about some prices. in any case I would recommend it and I would personally go back very willingly. Das Restaurant befindet sich im zentralen Bereich von Berna. Der Hauptraum ist sehr groß, farbenfroh und einladend. Es gibt einen Innenraum und einen sehr angenehmen Außenbereich. Die Speisekarte ist sehr abwechslungsreich und das Essen ist von guter Qualität. Schneller und präziser Service, obwohl es ratsam wäre, die Besonderheiten der Gänge kurz zu erläutern, da die Gefahr besteht, Reis als Beilage zu bestellen, obwohl einige Gerichte ihn bereits als Grundlage für die verschiedenen Fleischsorten verwenden oder Alternativen Vegetarier. Der Preis ist hoch, besonders die Getränke. Eine französische Familie, die neben uns saß, fragte sehr direkt, ob diese Preise für das Wasser wirklich normal seien, und tatsächlich hatte ich auch meine begründeten Zweifel an einigen Preisen. Ich würde es auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen und persönlich sehr gerne wiederkommen. il ristorante si trova nella zona centrale di berna. la sala principale, molto ampia, è colorata e accogliente. c'è una stanza interna e una piacevole area esterna. il menu è piuttosto vario e il cibo è di buona qualità. un servizio rapido e preciso sebbene sia consigliabile spiegare, forse anche brevemente, le particolarità dei corsi, dato che esiste il rischio di ordinare il riso come contorno quando in realtà alcuni piatti lo forniscono già come base per le varie carni o alternative vegetariane. il prezzo è alto, soprattutto le bevande, una famiglia francese seduta accanto a noi ci ha chiesto molto direttamente se quei prezzi erano davvero normali per l'acqua, e in realtà avevo anche i miei ragionevoli dubbi su alcuni prezzi. in ogni caso lo consiglierei e tornerei personalmente...

Well, had a poor experience with the order delivery. Order was nowhere close to the “authentic” indian food. I ordered -

1. Aloo Gobhi, the gobhi and aloo both weren’t cooked properly, we weren’t able to eat it with rice! Had to trash the food and rice both (I hare this the most, I am on tourism and at 22:30, I had no other way to preserve the food!)
2. Subzi Kofta, the website description says cooked in “spicy curry”, but the order I received was nowhere close to the spicy curry, the curry in my order was bland (NO SALT - Yes no salt at alll) and sweet gravy

To top it all, I had requested the food to be medium spicy per Indian standards!

Last but not the least, the order was supposed to be delivered at the hotel and it’s a basic courtesy when you are charging the market standard rates to offer basics such as napkins, and decent packaging. The packaging was very poor with oil leaking.

I wish that Indian restaurants outside of India really stand up and set a high standard for Indian cuisine (food wise) and also the standards used by prominent chains when it comes to food packaging and delivery.

Guys, you are not charging peanuts for the food, you are charging market rates for the cuisine, probably more, at least if you are not being charged for the real estate space for a dine-in order, so kindly spend minimum to ensure the delivery experience is not sub-par.

Hope this review helps the fellow readers from India/EU looking for their favourite cuisine and the restaurant management for future improvements.

I hope I had a one-off terrible experience, in future if I visit Bern and order from them, I’ll make it a point to update my rating...

I usually give good or bad ratings as I like it or not. In this case I had dinner twice and the first time it was more or less ok, the second time simply not. Positive: -Very nice Indian atmosphere. -Lot of space between the tables. -Even with many guests it stays calm. -The Biryani was humid as it has to be. Negative: -Both times, the waiting times were very long. The first time with an almost empty restaurant, the second time with a half full restaurant. They said that this is because they prepare everything fresh. But many other Indian restaurant does this too and the waiting times are much shorter. -They do not serve the typical "finger food" that almost every Indian restaurant around the world just puts on your table. -Even for beverages you wait. It feels like an eternity. -Both times, the meet was cooked to death, ie the lamb and the chicken were stone hard and dry. -They seem to cook without Indian spices as most of the dishes were rather tasteless.

All over, I have no plans to go back so soon again. But I hope they will improve service and kitchen considerably and soon as it is a pity to have such a nice Indian restaurant that is not...
