BAO Steam Kitchen — Restaurant in Geneva

Really my favorite restaurant in Geneva, the setting is magnificent (especially in the evening) the decoration is superb, a cosy and pleasant place to spend a nice evening. The staff is very nice and attentive. The food is simply delicious, the menu is regularly renewed to make us taste new tastes and seasonal products. I recommend to go with several people (4) for the first time so that you can taste more things since it is about sharing baskets. This notion of sharing is also very playful. Personally I find that the xia long bao with pork is a safe value with a lot of taste. I especially love the fried noodles with mushrooms and the desserts are delicious. The wine list is also very attractive with wines at very good prices, very nice references (including Hermitage La Chapelle by Paul Jaboulet aîné, Come tù by René Barbier). Places like Bao Steam Kitchen reminds me how low of a bar we have for good Chinese cuisine in Geneva. If you've had authentic xiao long baos or jiaozi dumplings before, any self respecting foodie would rate this as sub-par. How is the skin wrapping so thick? It's supposed to be condom film thin. It's also so tiny, the delicious soup inside hardly gave a mouthful. Whatever meat you chose hardly delivered enough texture contrast for satisfaction. The caramelised chicken baos were decent, however, it had good flavour. And I can not fault the service nor the decor, but it's a sad state of affairs when ignorant reviewers think this is the "best dumpling they've ever had." Please do yourself a...

Really cant understand the hype of this place.

The service was not attentive and felt always rushed and never engaging. The food was not of expectations, small portions and overpriced. The dumpling dough is too thick and the actual dumplings are small. The one thing that annoyed me the most and the reason I would never go again there, the place is infested with flied for some reason.
