Nico & Co. — Restaurant in Geneva

I see this place has a lot of good reviews, but I beg to differ. I got a very special treatment, not respectful, hard to describe, but we’ve all be disrespected and you know when it happens, it’s often very subtle. I think it’s because I’m black. It’s sad that the world has this still going on, but this bar should not perpetuate it. After all, all that matters is that I’m a decent person (behaving decently) who wants glass of wine and is paying for it. The waitress walked pass me with my wine to serve other people before coming back to me. Those other people coincidentally used their jacket to cover their bag, which was on a chair, as soon as I sat 5 tables away (it was hard to ignore). It’s a long review but one worth writing. If you’re black and feel like you have to challenge this sort of ignorance, then come to this place and leave reviews according to your experience (hopefully better than mine). Went for cocktails by the river in the middle of winter. Very cozy and good, but expensive, selection of good quality drinks. It's strange the menu doesn't list wines by the glass, but they are available! Classic cocktails are also not listed, but we asked politely and had a delicious espresso martini. If you're just buying a beer and a glass of wine the cost is okay, but you should easily splash cash here too so beware.. Lovely, friendly, cozy cabine by the river - a favourite - we went back two nights in a row!

The service is worth a mention. The waiters are friendly with good humour and usually able to judge very well when they will be needed! We were there Saturday night with a colleague, while the setting is nice; the service is not that great. The worst part for us was when the bill came, it was brought on a mobile device and the server held it between us in an angle and scrolled up and down fast. He made it seem we were wasting his time when trying to see what we were charged for. We did not want to make a scene so we paid and left.
