Went for Fondue, not to stay. Overall a beautiful hotel in the prime location in town, just a stroll from the train station. I have five times five stars for our waiter, but only two for the location of our fondue. Javier was a fabulous waiter. The very best gentleman! Caring, considerate, polite, attentive. Give the man a raise. The location of our fondue though… APPALLING. Looking on the web prior to booking, it looked like an absolutely perfect thing to do to enjoy a sunset fondue in one of their old ski gondolas overlooking the fabulous, earth-shattering view of Grindlewald. Don’t do it folks - it’s a scam. Yes you in an old gondola, but you are tucked away behind the hotel with a marginal view of a minimal part of the region. Like some grimy afterthought. Not at all the image they cook up in their marketing! Such a shame for what otherwise would clearly be a five-star hotel. I can’t rate anything else about the hotel (other than 10 stars for its view), but don’t waste a single penny on a fondue there. Go walk onto the patio, take some photos, and then spend your money on some much nicer...

Original comment:
Food is correct but severely overpriced given the variety and creativity (just plain traditional dish that you can cook at home). There are better choices at Grindelwald at similar price range.
To owner,
Thank you for your reply. I believe they will be people enjoying your food. But this does not change the fact that the quality of the menu does not meet the price tag.
I was there at the restaurant today for diner and I did not at all compliment the food. If you would call a salad bar and a few plates of ready to serve desserts two “courses” then I have no comments to add. Plus, the macaron, brownie, and the tart were simply disastrous. You will easily find better ones at Coop or Migros.
The main dishes (the beef with rice and tiger prawns) taste no better than the flight meal of an economy class on a average level airline.
I deeply admire the confidence you put in your food but I could also assure you this is the worst dining experience I had among the restaurants I have visited...

The only disappointment here was we were seated in a separate room from the main dining area with 2 families with crying babies and loud kids. One child kicked a chair (thumping loudly) for most of an hour. There was plenty of room in the other areas of the restaurant and other couples were seated in the nicer area with no problems. It would be nice if we could’ve eaten in the quieter area. The piano player was amazing and it was fun to play “name that tune” in my head. The view and the kindness of the waitstaff compensated for the super loud families with crying children.
Anabela and Rene were prompt and helpful and explained things well to us. The bartender, Johnathan was super nice and made the wait go by so quickly for we arrived early drenched from rain. You have an amazing employee in Johnathan. Sonja also made a point to check in on us throughout the meal.
The food was great and well worth the price and the only reason we may not be back is because the seating was not...
