A Satisfying Satvic Gem in Interlaken
Tucked away in the heart of Interlaken, this 100% vegetarian restaurant is a rare and rewarding find for those seeking wholesome, flavorful meals with a satvic touch. During our stay, we returned multiple times—drawn by the consistency, cleanliness, and comforting flavors that stood out in a region where vegetarian options are often limited or overpriced.
The highlight is undoubtedly their unlimited thali, which features a generous spread of well-balanced curries, two varieties of roti, and all the accompaniments you’d expect in a traditional Indian meal. While the thali is officially unlimited for one, the staff do allow it to be shared between two people—though in that case, refills aren’t offered. That said, the portion was more than adequate for my husband and me, especially for a light, satisfying lunch or dinner.
The food leans toward satvic cooking—meaning it’s flavorful without being overly oily or spicy. This makes it not only digestible but also ideal for families and those with dietary sensitivities. The pricing is refreshingly fair, especially when compared to à la carte menus or other dining options in the area, which often come at a premium.
The service is friendly and relaxed, and small but thoughtful touches—like a baby chair and spotless cutlery—make the space especially welcoming for families. The overall cleanliness of the facility deserves special mention; everything from the seating area to the tableware met a high standard, which earned a solid “mom-approved” from our group.
In short, this restaurant offers great value, authentic flavors, and a warm atmosphere. Whether you’re a vegetarian traveler or simply in search of a nourishing meal in Interlaken, it’s well worth a visit—perhaps...
Read moreMe and my parents had the sheer displeasure of visiting this place out of a necessity. My mother had to keep a fast and had to have a PURE VEGETARIAN meal today. The rest of us were just there to accompany her and didn't want vegetarian or Indian cuisine to begin with. Given the peculiar situation, we visited this restaurant and decided to take a thali for her.
The thali was supposed to be unlimited (all you can eat) if had by just one person. If two people were to share it, it would then be a "limited" thali with anything else (if ordered) being charged extra. This was the first time I've ever encountered a such a situation where the concept of unlimited thali/buffet is as fluid as this, which is amusing to me.
The situation continues, if two people were having the thali, and there was a third person sitting on the table, there was supposed to be a CHF15 security deposit to be paid in case the third person touched anything on the so-called "limited" thali.
The restuarant staff attending us basically alleged us of being hoarders, was outright rude and insinuated that we were there to cheat on him and didn't even bother once to make amends or apologise to begin with. We obviously weren't going to split just because of the so-called stupid rules and decided to leave. There's another pure vegetarian restaurant very close by where both the food and people were very nice and welcoming.
I'm writing this in the hope that this reaches the right people and no one else has to deal with these people the...
Read moreBefore writing my actual experience, I also want to make it clear that this restaurant has no co-relation to the actual chotiwala restaurant in Haridwar.
Now coming to the experience. We went to this restaurant twice and found the food decent. I did find the naan too thick but accepted it to be like that in a foreign country. On the third visit we went with 2 friends of ours who hadn’t diner here before. While we were ordering, we asked them if the naan can be made a little thinner. The owner was taking our order and he said “we don’t put eggs in our naan so it can’t be made thinner”. When we said that in India you do get thin naan, to which he casually replied “99% of places in India put eggs in the flour” . Our friend got really upset on this comment and she started clarifying from him that how can he just defame veg indian restaurants in india like that without even thinking once. The owner started making random comments to prove his baseless points and rudely took all the menus from us. We finally vacated the place after that stupid argument from him.
I would suggest that if you need fresh indian food, then stay away from this place. We did read the other comments and completely agree that the portion sizes are a ripoff and everything on the menu is priced almost equally not justifying the food quality at all. And now I doubt if the restaurant is even pure veg considering it’s kitchen is shared with a non-...
