A Picture-Perfect Paradise in the Middle of Interlaken
Absolutely Breathtaking – A Must-Visit in Interlaken!
If there’s one place that truly captures the spirit of Interlaken, it’s Höhematte Park — a vast, beautifully maintained green space offering jaw-dropping views of the Jungfrau mountain and a peaceful atmosphere right in the town center.
📜 A Glimpse of History
The park’s story is as charming as its scenery. Höhematte was once the site of the historic Augustinian monastery, and later the Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel grounds. In 1860, local citizens banded together to buy the land to ensure it remained open and accessible to everyone — preserving this 14-hectare paradise as a public park. Today, it stands as a symbol of Interlaken’s community pride and love for nature.

Read moreWhen we went there it was the middle of the winter, there was a fantastic ice skating rink and adventure park setup. In the middle of the park was an ice go-karting track. It did look small but some of the drivers could make the cars drift a little. Their stop speed was quite low and the track didn't have any passing places really. All the tracks in the park would have added up to about 1 km in length. There were free aids for kids to help them skate. However we did find that it was necessary to clean the ice from the bottom of it very often to stop it from sticking to the ice. My son and I had great fun and the hour and a half we spent on the ice went by very fast. Be warned, the food stands around are very expensive, even for switzerland. There is great underground parking very closeby which is a missive benefit when you have...
