MADE ME SICK! I had a poor experience but wouldn't have written a review if I hadn't spent the whole night in agony from terrible stomach pain.
I went there because the average rating was 4.6 stars, but I wish I'd read the negative reviews first. I ordered a Kadahi Paneer which wasn't on the menu and Garlic Naan. The food arrived within 15 minutes, but there was only one other family in the restaurant at the time. The portion size was great, and they also provided a lot of free pickle (achaar). The food was completely tasteless however, and the garlic naan that I'd paid extra for did not have any garlic flavour at all. It looked like there was a turmeric based paste applied over the naan instead of garlic. The Kadahi Paneer looks like it packs a punch but it was bland and a little sour. I had to sprinkle salt on everything to get some flavour. The only good item was the ready-made pickle.
They didn't ask how the food was and instead one of the waiters walked by commenting the food is great.
Within 15 minutes of paying and leaving, I started noticing a stomach ache, which became worse over the next few hours. This only happens to me when the food is old and stale. I suspect that the curry is very old and being reused. I was awake through the night from the pain and had to take buscopan and other medications. Luckily it was mild food poisoning otherwise I'd have to go to the hospital in the middle of the night by myself. This food ruined my night and my short time in Interlaken.
This is my first Indian restaurant in Switzerland and also my last, I don't want to get more sick while on holiday.
Other weird things: As I was eating, I noticed that the waiters/owners were hanging around the street trying to pull customers in. They are nice people but they don't realise that they're actually driving people away by pushing them.
The food for the restaurant next door (Maharaja) was coming out of this restaurant, so don't trust that restaurant's quality either.
When asked which dishes are popular, the owner kept saying everything is good. It felt a little dishonest, because all other restaurants point out the more popular dishes and try to recommend something for your tastes rather than trying to sell all dishes. And the food didn't taste good anyway.
I had to chase them to pay the bill.
I hate leaving bad reviews on small businesses but I think this restaurant should come with a warning, as it's wrong to serve food that makes people sick. The owners are nice but they need to pick up their...
Read moreFood Taste: We ordered Briyani and everything was good and spicy, felt like special for Asians. Hospitality: Owners hospitality gives you more comfortable. Price:Cheap compare to other hotels. I had at so many places in Switzerland/ interlaken. This hotel was the cheapest. Switzerland is the costliest city. For 4 members it costed 100 euros just for briyanis.
General note: When you planned to travel switzerland, just surf before choosing places as some might be closed for more reason. For travel, stay, food (all budget) and entertainment it will cost 1.5-2.5k euro for 4 days (extra 1000 for purchas of any items which you missed to bring).
Some place travel tickets (not talking of swiss travel pass) comes with some discounts and offer. And the same with hotels they will provide some offer, free and discounts like shopping, bus travel free within the city limit. All check with them before spending extra.
If planning to take walk to mountains, always have all the needed. Good gloves, cooling glass (To avoid sun rays), winter jacket and pants that doesn't absorb snow cold while sitting.
Have enough amount to spend..Train, rope car, bus will cost you more. Pre-planned with the travel tickets, check in online before getting surprise bills from onspot places. And remember always ask about price and days count. Never hesitate and shy to ask.
Best places to get things, cheapest in Switzerland (Lucerne) - Dosenbach & c&a. If you dont get the things ask them, they wont hesitate to suggest good shops...
Read moreOne word STAY AWAY ! DONT FALL PREY TO THE PAID REVIEWS !! This stands the worst ever Indian restaurant I ever ate at outside india. All the restaurants around chase you to get you like auto drivers outside Indian railway station. I saw the reviews and went here and I don’t know if the reviews are paid or something because what I ate was utterly distasteful! I told tandoori chicken well done but it was stale jald cooked. Butter chicken was very sour and seems tomato purée was twice the amount. Even chicken in the curry was not cooked. The nan was half cooked and I feared it might damage my stomach and moreover rice was smelling and half cooked too !! And all of this for 58 $ !! After giving my food they didn’t even come back to ask and even to pay bill I had to chase them. I did tell him that one food item is bad could be understood but everything is bad !! He just said sorry ok bye !! I recommend you guys better goto spice lounge which is in adjacent lane. Honestly these restaurant guys are doing this by chance and not by choice ! If you are reading my review and still want to go there then good luck. I wish I can give no stars at all. Very very disgusting shabby place as well. Stay away !! Better grab coffee or croissant if you are too hungry. Btw I threw almost all the food as the server wasn’t even interested to listen to me. STAY AWAY FROM...
