• RESPONSE TO OWNER* wow, I’m surprised by the owners review! Yes, I did taste your matcha. And I have an understanding and have taken classes/researched matcha from Uji and Hoshino provinces in Japan. Yes, color is a factor in grading matcha and I know it is not a color dye from my experiences with matcha and is based on the leaves age, and the cultivation process - but aside from that the taste was extremely watered down with this specific experience. Maybe instead of criticizing do some research on matcha grade, Cultivation process and culinary grades!

I was pretty surprised at all of the good reviews. We ordered an iced matcha latte and a dirty chai latte, and unfortunately it was probably some of the worst drinks I’ve had. Maybe the coffee is better but I expected better with all the good reviews.

If you’ve had matcha or chai lattes in places like Los Angeles, New York, Japan or Seattle the matcha drinks there are a vibrant green - not watered down and smooth and creamy.

Matcha: the color was very brown like and muddy which signifies not good quality matcha. It tasted like I was drinking water and green tea. It was very watered down and I could barely taste any matcha. Most places I know use higher grade matcha so I’m curious what the process is here.

Dirty chai latte: unfortunately also tasted very hard to drink and medicinal in taste which was strange. I’ve had chai drinks from homemade ones from friends in India to more sweet latte like ones and this one was just not pleasant.

I had the pleasure of visiting Velo Cafe in Interlaken, Switzerland for the second time in just three days, and I must say, it has quickly become a favorite spot for my taste buds and heart alike. The delightful experience was largely attributed to the delectable food that never disappoints, but what truly sets Velo Cafe apart is the exceptional service, embodied by the charming Tristan.

Really nice and cosy vibes inside. Came here right when it opened 😝 and it filled up pretty fast. We got grilled halloumi breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito, hot chocolate, and flat white.

The sandwich was soo good!! The sesame buns gave a slight crunch and were generously slathered with spicy mayo which gave the sandwich a nice kick. The most interesting was the halloumi cheese. It was juicy, somewhat chewy, and salty. I really thought I was eating chicken for a moment there 🤯 Really nice mouthfeel – I read online that its texture can be described as squeaky, which is so cute and I agree with it 🐭 Add in fresh lettuce, tomato, plus smash fried egg, and the sandwich packed a delish punch 😋

The breakfast burrito was also good. Each bite felt very organic 🤣 Wholesome combi of eggs, spinach, avocado and cheese. Though the overall flavour profile was relatively simple compared to the sandwich, it was alright with the salsa, which was sour (and somewhat spicy after a while). The servers were nice enough to give us an extra dip 😊

Hot chocolate was sweet and chocolately, tho it was really just lukewarm. Flat white was real strong given the double shot, but also milky. Have no regrets coming here 🫶 Maybe one day I can come back to try their blueberry...
