I ordered Chicken Katzu Curry. The meat was very good and the food was very hot - positives end there. There is no more than a drizzle of curry sauce but the biggest shocker is the use of basmati rice instead of sushi rice! The decorations hint at authenticity which this place completely lacks. My friends also ordered ramen and udon - both tasted like they were just made from a pack of instant noodles. Ramen was also unexpectedly spicy - not what I would expect. At least ramen had some flavour as udon tastes just like salted water. My girlfriend ordered a Jepcha Gyoza brawl. The sweet potato noodles were really good but you only get a few pieces of broccoli and 2 gyozas with it. Overall, I can sum up the food here as overpriced and tasteless.

Not a fan: somewhat expensive, not super high quality, and definitely not authentic. I got the Japchae gyoza, but the best thing about this dish were the two small gyoza on top. Those were tasty and well cooked. The sweet potato noodles were okay too, but there was an abysmal quantity of "stir-fry" veggies: a tiny piece of pepper, a minuscule broccoli floret and two slices of zucchini. On top of the noodles, there was also salad with salad dressing that ended up mixing with the noodles sauce... not the best experience! I would refrain from serving salad with dressing and instead opt for more stir-fry veggies. On the bright side, the location is super central, and I think it works well for a quick takeaway dish.

If you are missing Korean food, then give it a go. I had Japche - the noodle tastes good and authentic, not crazy about the salad that’s in the same bowl, they are better in a separate plate. Second time there, I tried Ramen Goyza - the portion is too small, it tastes good cause instant noodle really doesn’t go wrong. The place is mostly self serve, you order upfront, you pick up when ready, cutlery is on the side table.

I recently visited Mashida Take Away in Lucerne and tried their Chicken Teriyaki and Ebi Curry. The Chicken Teriyaki featured tender grilled chicken glazed with a flavorful Japanese BBQ sauce, accompanied by fresh vegetables and a crisp salad. The Ebi Curry offered succulent shrimp in a rich, mildly spiced curry sauce, served over rice with a side of vegetables.

The portions were generous, and the prices reasonable, making it a great value for authentic Japanese cuisine in Lucerne. The restaurant has a casual, self-service setup with limited seating, but the quick service and quality of food make it a worthwhile stop.

Located conveniently near the Old Town, it's an excellent spot for both locals and visitors craving genuine Japanese flavors. I highly recommend Mashida Take Away for anyone seeking delicious and authentic Japanese dishes...
