Keep in mind it’s more expensive for everything here in Switzerland, so even though it was more expensive than what we’ve been paying in Italy it’s about average for this tourist town and location. The food and drinks for dinner last night were delicious and our breakfast was very filling with just croissants, bread, jams, butter, orange juice, and cappuccino. My husband loved the beer he ordered last night which they brew themselves. Beware there is at least one server that will ask for a tip when she knows you’re American. Don’t feel pressured to leave one unless she’s done a phenomenal job which she didn’t for us. We had a different server in the morning who didn’t ask for one. They are paid a fair income all over Europe and Switzerland isn’t any different. Our servers back in the US have a different story because they are not paid anywhere near minimum wage for non-tipped employees. If the server had not asked for a tip I would have given them a 5 star for service. The only reason I’m giving them 3 is because the server this morning didn’t ask for a tip.

A hidden gem in Luzern ! The menu offers a diverse selection of Swiss cuisine at very reasonable prices (given its unique view to the famous Chapel bridge). The food taste incredible, we ordered the beef stew with bone marrow broths (it has a very good name to it) and it was one of the best dishes we’ve had in Switzerland. A friend of mine took a much simpler chicken and fries dish yet the chicken was very juicy and well marinated along with a very buttery sauce and crispy fries that was out of this world. The beer was freshly brewed locally which added another layer to our delightful meal. If I could get 6 star for the services. They were very kind and friendly and we received lots of advice on which dish to take during our stay. One came to us offered to take photos for us cuz we took lots of photos when the food came out and it was so fun. We came with a dog too and he got lots of pets and fresh water during our stay. 10/10

Good view, mediocre food, awful service. The view is the only thing giving this one star. It wasn’t overly busy on a late Friday morning, and my friend and I sat down at an empty seat. The server ignored us for a while, served the neighbouring table who sat down after us and gave me a curt nod when I tried to get her attention. She finally came over and when I asked which was better/more popular, the pretzel with ham or with cheese, she scoffed rudely and condescendingly said to me “Ham is ham. Cheese is cheese. What do you prefer?” and laughs. My friend and I were stunned at this response. She must have sensed our annoyance because somehow she gets our order wrong. A male server soon brought out my order and two of my friend’s. Which we explained that there was only one ordered, not two. And we never saw the female server again. She literally continued to serve the tables all around us and somehow our table got passed over to her male coworker. I can’t say for certain but the vibe I witnessed was that she certainly was a lot friendlier with her tables with Caucasian people. (I’ve seen the responses from the restaurant regarding others who have had similar awful experiences with a rude female waitress and I can say this corroborates my point. While we’re not Americans, we were clearly wearing Canadian apparel. And while the restaurant claims their staff aren’t racist in another comment, it certainly comes across that way in the response and the attitude from the waitress. So maybe they’re not racist, but then they should be trained to not make so many other people feel that way.) Food-wise, my friend said her sausages were good but my pretzel + ham was not great. I was expecting a warm pretzel, but it was basically a cold, hard pretzel sliced in half with a couple pieces of ham and lettuce. Too hard to eat and/or cut up. So disappointing of an experience for our first morning in Switzerland.

Eating at that Rathaus Brauerei (twice!) during our stay in Lucerne was one of the highlights of our Europe trip this year. Our first visit we got there on the late side after the restaurant was completely packed. Marc, the manager, was extremely helpful and sat us at the bar and quickly found us a table a few minutes later. We enjoyed the house beers, which were fantastic, along with some amazing food. I had the Isenegger farmer`s bratwurst, and my wife had the Rathaus chicken. Both meals were outstanding. Our second visit to Rathaus, Marc again was helpful in securing a reservation for us (again, the restaurant was completely booked that night). Per Marc's recommendation, I had the crispy baked pork knuckle marinated in beer which was the best I've ever tasted. We can't recommend Rathaus enough. It's a must-visit restaurant for visitors to Lucerne. Big thanks to Marc and the staff for giving us an amazing experience!

We found this place meanwhile wondering around the streets in the center of Lucerna, it seemed very local, and even if it was very full we did found a very nice table. The attention was really quick an efficient and the beer is fantastic. As a meal we order as an entree some sausages and pretzel that was very good, and as the main course i order the ribs with barbecue i would give this plate a 10 out of 10 because it has averything the meat was tender, the vegetables were really nice cooked with some butter flavor, it included some potatoes and it was a very complete dish, my family ordered the half chicken that i also tried and totally would recommend it,it was juicy and well cooked full of flavor, and they also asked for sausages that had some hash brown potato and a sauce that was delicious. A very nice meal, with good portions, good price and very nice ambience. If you can visit this great place

Went to Rathaus Brauerei after a day trip to Pilatus for some early dinner and cold beer. @ Rathaus, they brew their own beer in-house and offer outside seating to enjoy the views of Luzern. The inside space is warming and authentic, giving travelers a memorable experience. Beers come in three sizes, S, M, & L and you can grab pitchers. My girlfriend and I went with the Rathaus brew: light in flavor with a fruity kick. For mains, we went with the sausages and sauerkraut along with the spaetzle. This was my first German restaurant experience and it did not disappoint. Strongly recommend the both of these dishes - so, so delicious! Saw some other reviews where service was subpar. My experience was completely opposite. We had an attentive waitress who did a superb job!
