Good view, mediocre food, awful service.
The view is the only thing giving this one star. It wasn’t overly busy on a late Friday morning, and my friend and I sat down at an empty seat. The server ignored us for a while, served the neighbouring table who sat down after us and gave me a curt nod when I tried to get her attention.
She finally came over and when I asked which was better/more popular, the pretzel with ham or with cheese, she scoffed rudely and condescendingly said to me “Ham is ham. Cheese is cheese. What do you prefer?” and laughs. My friend and I were stunned at this response. She must have sensed our annoyance because somehow she gets our order wrong. A male server soon brought out my order and two of my friend’s. Which we explained that there was only one ordered, not two. And we never saw the female server again. She literally continued to serve the tables all around us and somehow our table got passed over to her male coworker.
I can’t say for certain but the vibe I witnessed was that she certainly was a lot friendlier with her tables with Caucasian people. (I’ve seen the responses from the restaurant regarding others who have had similar awful experiences with a rude female waitress and I can say this corroborates my point. While we’re not Americans, we were clearly wearing Canadian apparel. And while the restaurant claims their staff aren’t racist in another comment, it certainly comes across that way in the response and the attitude from the waitress. So maybe they’re not racist, but then they should be trained to not make so many other people feel that way.)
Food-wise, my friend said her sausages were good but my pretzel + ham was not great. I was expecting a warm pretzel, but it was basically a cold, hard pretzel sliced in half with a couple pieces of ham and lettuce. Too hard to eat and/or cut up. So disappointing of an experience for our first morning in...
Read moreRathaus Brauerei in Luzern is an absolute gem for beer lovers and food enthusiasts alike. Nestled in a stunning location along the Reuss River, right in the heart of Lucerne’s Old Town, this brewery offers a truly authentic Swiss experience.
The highlight here is undoubtedly the house-brewed beer. Fresh, unfiltered, and full of character, each brew perfectly complements the hearty Swiss cuisine. The Rathaus Märzen and the seasonal specialties are must-tries. The flavors are well-balanced, crisp, and showcase the craftsmanship behind the brewing process.
Beyond the beer, the food is equally impressive. Traditional Swiss dishes like Rösti, sausages, and cheese-based specialties are served with generous portions and rich flavors. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, whether you’re sitting inside the historic beer hall or enjoying the beautiful riverside terrace with breathtaking views of the Kapellbrücke.
Service is friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient, even when the place is bustling with visitors. The staff takes the time to explain the beer selection and recommend pairings, adding to the overall experience.

Read moreReally bad experience.
Started with a very welcoming and friendly staff, explaining us that we would need to wait 15mins for a table, which we did very pleasantly having the nice local blond beer, but ended up with some terrible mistakes.
First of all, the description in English of the food one of us ordered on the menu. We've never seen a source of soup described as "juicy meet", and we even got the acknowledgement from the waitress about that fact after we received the dishes. We got surprised with the food and even asked to the menu to double-check if it was correct since we were expecting a dish with meat and received a bowl with soup.
Before this, we were announced of a 10 mins delay (which took 20 afterwards) on our order because of a staff mistake delivering our order to other table.
At the end, the waitress even brought us the wrong bill to pay.
We left the place after almost three hours only for having lunch (took us longer to have the food on our table, than to get one table).
In general, very decent and cozy place (good beer, btw), but very inexperienced and...
